General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Strategy and Business Development Director for our Airborne Systems business area.
The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation’s most critical defense activities and programs.
This role offers the chance to work with business leadership to lay out a business and technical strategy to develop high-end computing systems that are critical to the warfighter and help drive long-term business growth.
General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that help enable them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS: Directs business development activities of products and/or services to government agencies or private firms doing government business Maintains key business development contacts with current and potential customers Evaluates and manages new business opportunities, initiatives, partnerships, alliances and/or joint ventures Oversees market analyses, monitors competitive activity, and identifies customer needs Coordinates and oversees capture management for selected opportunities Defines vision, strategies, and tactics for business development opportunities Works side-by-side with engineering leadership to develop technical roadmaps and strategies to support long-range strategic plans Advises higher management on status or action required in connection with existing and potential business development opportunities Works with business leadership to plan new business funds and investments to support customers and drive business growth; responsible for new business budgets Provides leadership in the planning, designing, due diligence, and implementing of strategic business objectives Develops strategic plans by identifying internal and external strategic issues and opportunities that could affect growth and profitability Scans environment for business opportunities, maintains surveillance over market Analyzes market data to identify trends/opportunities and develop strategic direction from market information
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Demonstrates extensive experience in having defined and executed successful strategies to grow business Able to articulate examples of having identified, pursued and won large capture efforts in areas related to GDMS business Possesses broad market awareness, to include budgets, customer priorities, mission gaps and market dynamics Maintains extensive knowledge of government contracting and acquisition practices Able to thrive in a highly interactive team environment Demonstrates extensive interpersonal, communication, collaboration and leadership skills Recognized ability to build relationships with senior level customers and internal counterparts Works well under pressure with the ability to simultaneously deliver on multiple tasks and/or priorities Top level of management below the Executive Team, reports to a Vice President Directs the activities of a business area through lower management levels Participates with other Directors and business leaders to establish strategic plans and objectives; results assessed from a relatively long-term perspective Expected to make final decisions in conjunction with the Executive Team on business, growth, and strategic matters and leads effective achievement of objectives Participates in company development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people Ensures budgets and schedules meet company requirements Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of the company Regularly interacts with executives, major customers, and key industry partners Conducts business and technical briefings for senior and top management and for external representatives Interactions frequently involve special skills, such as negotiating with customers, partners or management or attempting to influence senior level leaders regarding matters of significance to the organization Exerts considerable influence on the overall objectives and long-range goals of the organization Performance metrics visible at the GDMS, business and functional level Has overall control of planning, staffing, budgeting, managing expense priorities, and recommending and implementing changes to methods Responsible for managing people, including performance evaluations and pay increase recommendations Responsible for hire/fire decisions
PREFERRED DEGREE TYPES AND EXPERIENCE: Has earned a degree and/or has extensive experience with embedded computing and mission system technology Location preferred in Bloomington, MN; would consider remote with regular travel to Bloomington on a monthly basis #LI-Hybrid
This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled. USD $228,280.00 - USD $247,007.00 /Yr.
