Job Summary

Pico Propane and Fuels is seeking a full-time Metered Transport Driver to join our team!

The Metered Transport Driver is responsible for loading, transporting, and delivering refined fuels and propane to Bulk Plants, residential and commercial customers, using applicable tractor and trailer in addition to assisting with hauling equipment on a flatbed trailer. Our Transport Drivers are committed to Service, Efficiency and Safety. This position requires a Class A CDL license with hazmat and tanker endorsements.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:Comply with all city, state, and federal regulationsLoads, secures, transports, delivers, and unloads productPerforms pre- and post-trip inspections on equipment used for the transportation of hazardous materialsApplies a thorough understanding of the technical concepts, practices and procedures of industry standards and government regulations related to testing and transporting bulk petroleum products to final delivery pointsPlans and accomplishes operational assignments that are varied and moderately complex to complexGauges tank volumes and, correctly identifies product types of bulk petroleum products while transporting from refinery terminals to final delivery points using a class eight tractor and a tanker trailerMaintains the operational efficiency of vehicles by monitoring truck maintenance needs, conducting minor repairs and conducting daily DOT truck inspections to ensure maximum vehicle safetyMaintains and completes accurate records by documenting truck inspections, hours of service, product transported, and miles drivenEnsures that delivery vehicle receives service according to maintenance schedule; reports larger service needs and mechanical issues to supervisorAssists with hauling equipment on a flatbed trailerPerforms other related duties as assignedThe absence of specific statements of duties does not exclude those tasks from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment of the position.

Qualifications

Skills/Abilities:

Ability to use navigation tools effectively and efficiently such as GPS, smartphone apps, and/or web-based or physical mapsAbility to maintain accurate logs and recordsAbility to carry out a series of instructions with limited supervisionKnowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety RegulationsEducation and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent requiredClass A CDL license with hazmat and tanker endorsements requiredMust meet all DOT requirementsAbility to obtain Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC)No more than 1 moving violation in the previous 2 years3+ years tractor and trailer experience in propane and/or fuel distribution business1+ years tanker experience within the last 5 yearsPhysical, Mental, and Behavioral Requirements:

Position requires the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to heavy weights of 10 to 80 lbs. for approximately 90% of the work shift.Ability to regularly climb in and out of a commercial motor vehicle, multiple times per work shiftGood hand eye coordination, arm hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp and visual acuity to operate equipment is required, including at night.Frequent sitting, reaching with hands and armsMust be able to speak and hearPosition is subject to pre-hire DOT medical certification requirements and drug and/or alcohol testing, as well as a physical abilities test performed by a company providerMust pass pre-employment screening and background checkPosition may require working evening hours and weekends as neededWork is normally performed outside where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, fumes, airborne particles and gases is common.
