Job Summary

Job Summary:

The Bobtail Driver is responsible for loading, transporting and delivering propane to our residential and commercial customers using a bobtail truck (3,000-5,000 gallon capacity). Our Bobtail Drivers are committed to Service, Efficiency and Safety. Duties/Responsibilities: Complies with all city, state, and federal regulations Loads, secures, transports, and delivers propane to residential and commercial locations Provides a high level of service to customers Performs pre and post-trip inspections on equipment used for the transportation of hazardous materials Maintains and completes accurate records by documenting truck inspections, hours of service, product transported, and miles driven in compliance with all DOT regulations Maintains the operational efficiency of vehicles by monitoring truck maintenance needs, conducting minor repairs and conducting daily DOT truck inspections to ensure maximum vehicle safety Ensures that delivery vehicle receives service according to maintenance schedule; reports larger service needs and mechanical issues to supervisor Applies a thorough understanding of the technical concepts, practices and procedures and a general knowledge of industry standards and government regulations related to testing and transporting bulk petroleum products to pipeline injection points Performs other related duties as assigned Skills/Abilities:

Ability to use navigation tools such as onboard GPS, smartphone apps, and/or web-based or physical maps. Ability to maintain accurate logs and records Ability to carry out a series of instructions with limited supervision Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required Class A or B CDL license with hazmat endorsements required Propane certification required Texas Railroad Commission certification Ability to obtain Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC) No more than 1 moving violation in the previous 2 years 3+ years tractor and trailer experience in propane and/or fuel distribution business preferred 1+ years tanker experience within the last 5 years preferred Physical Requirements:

The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by the incumbent to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Position requires the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to heavy weights of 10 to 80 lbs. Good hand eye coordination, arm hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp and visual acuity to operate equipment is required. Frequent sitting, reaching with hands and arms. Must be able to speak and hear. Position is subject to DOT physical requirements and drug testing as well as a physical abilities test performed by a company provider.
