Senior Offshore Cable Engineer

The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from $136k to $160k.Summary:
The AVANGRID RENEWABLES Sr. Offshore Cable Engineer reports directly to the Manager – Offshore Operations Electrical Engineering and focuses on assisting with the delivery of operational requirements in the US Offshore business.The Sr. Offshore Cable Engineer will be part of a team responsible for defining O&M Strategies and plans, tendering (technical), negotiating (technical), and being the technical lead for small-scale offshore O&M campaigns/installations including management of contractors and associated interfaces, ensuring quality, best practices, and excellent H&SE performance are applied.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Technical/engineering support of small-scale offshore O&M campaigns/installations with several interfaces and coordination to manage within one or more of Avangrid Renewables offshore projects.Providing O&M engineering support, assistance, and recommendations to ensure delivery of mid to large-scale O&M works within time, budget, and quality following industry best practices, and observing maximum respect for Health, Safety, and the Environment to ensure regulatory and legal compliance.Implement offshore standards, procedures, tools, best practices, and quality requirements.Provide advice on operational solution/risk levels affecting technical integrity or asset performance and make technical recommendations to Project Managers based on the analyzed asset integrity status, production, and other KPIs to ensure that cost-effective solutions are identified and fully evaluated.Support the coordination of the EPC interface and Project Services Engineering Team to ensure the operational requirements are identified, fully evaluated, and actioned during project execution.Ensure that all assessments, advice, and recommendations are fully documented in accordance with all internal procedures and industry best practices.Develop technical specifications for maintenance agreements.Provide key and strategic advice, assessment, and recommendations to the business throughout the whole life cycle (development to decommissioning).Provide input on appropriate bid levels/commercial strategies and commercial agreements relative to projects.Ensure recommendations for improvement are fed into lessons learned regarding offshore wind farm operation and maintenance for sharing across the different Offshore Projects.Site Work:Perform as-needed site visits to gather data or oversee project deployment.Travel will be required approximately 10% of the time; on-call support may be required.Required Qualifications:B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Civil Engineering, or equivalent technical field.Minimum of 3 years of experience working with electrical transmission/underground transmission cable systems, particularly subsea cables.Experienced and understanding of technical due diligence.Eligible to work in the US.Flexible to travel around the US and overseas.Ability to work in high and medium voltage substation and collector system facilities including offshore assets.Ability to climb a 100+m wind turbine, work may involve inclement weather, electrical hazards, climbing turbines and ladders, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds.Ability to complete GWO basic safety and sea survival training.Ability to complete HUET training.Ability to operate a motor vehicle and travel by air; a current driver’s license is required.Preferred Qualifications:Previous experience with offshore electrical transmission systems, including fiber optics.Working knowledge of subsea cable protection systems, subsea cable maintenance & repairing procedures.Experience in HV cable design, installation, commissioning, maintenance, or manufacturing.Engineering in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineering (PE) license.Experience in the offshore wind and/or offshore oil & gas field.Experience with cable calculation software such as ELEK, CYME, and ETAP.Additional Success Factors:Consistent ability to efficiently self-manage multiple, concurrent projects, and priorities.Able to review complex analysis and develop formal documentation, technical reports, and presentations.Demonstrated ability to follow a project through completion in a timely, on-budget manner.Effectively receive and provide oral and written technical information.Ability to participate and foster working relationships in a productive team environment.Demonstrated ability to take actions beyond the explicit job responsibilities to assist in large, complex projects.
