Director, Federal Government Affairs

Job Overview:

Reporting to the Vice President of Federal Government Affairs, the Director will develop and implement advocacy strategies with federal policymakers around issues impacting the biopharmaceutical industry. Based in Washington, D.C., the Director will be a member of the Government Affairs (GA) team and will work closely with State Government Affairs and U.S. Policy leads.

This role will advocate for policies relating to drug reimbursements, coverage, and issues impacting Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance, ensuring patient access to Gilead therapies. The role will also involve maintaining relationships with Congressional Committees and Members engaged on these issues.

Essential Duties and Job Functions:

Manage and coordinate strategies related to federal legislation, programs, and executive branch affairs.

Develop and execute strategies to build strong relationships with Democratic Members of Congress.

Engage with key congressional members and staff to advocate for public policies that support Gilead’s objectives.

Direct a network of contract lobbyists to further Gilead’s objectives.

Participate in trade association and coalition work groups to advocate for Gilead priorities.

Represent the Gilead PAC at fundraising events.

Minimum Requirements:

BS or BA degree and a minimum of 10+ years in government affairs or policy roles.

Experience with Congressional Committees and/or federal agencies relevant to healthcare.

Understanding of the approval, coverage, and reimbursement processes for prescription drugs.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, including experience with PowerPoint.

Excellent organizational and project management skills.

Preferred:

MA or similar advanced degree and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.

Experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries.

The salary range for this position is: $201,025.00 - $260,150.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
