Our mission is to deliver high-performance, scalable, and flexible solutions for the most challenging communication environments.As a Senior Beamforming Engineer, you will lead the design, development, and optimization of advanced beamforming algorithms for Massive MIMO systems. Your work will involve the integration of antenna design and array processing techniques, ensuring high-quality performance for both terrestrial and space-based communication systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver state-of-the-art solutions that meet stringent performance criteria in complex environments.This position reports to Sr. Director of Product and System Integration, Silicon, and will work closely with systems, software, hardware, and test teams responsible for delivering the communications payload. This position is based in our Saratoga, CA office.What you will do:Algorithm Design and Development:Lead the design and implementation of cutting-edge beamforming algorithms for Massive MIMO systems, ensuring optimal performance in multi-user and multi-path environmentsDevelop and optimize wireless algorithms for antenna array systems, focusing on spatial multiplexing, angular orthogonality, and real-time signal processingSimulate and evaluate the performance of beamforming algorithms using tools such as MATLAB, Python, and C++ under various channel conditions (including for space applications)Antenna and Array System Design:Collaborate with antenna designers to integrate beamforming algorithms with advanced antenna arrays, ensuring optimal performance in both terrestrial and space-based communication systemsOptimize beamforming techniques for large antenna arrays, ensuring efficient beam management and spatial separation across different frequency bandsSystem Integration and Testing:Work closely with hardware and software teams to integrate beamforming algorithms into the overall system architecture, including FPGA, ASIC, and RFIC platformsDevelop and execute comprehensive test plans for beamforming algorithms, ensuring robust performance in real-world scenarios and space applicationsIdentify and resolve system-level performance bottlenecks, continuously refining algorithms to enhance capacity, reliability, and efficiencyInnovation and Optimization:Stay abreast of the latest advancements in beamforming, Massive MIMO, and wireless communication technologies, incorporating relevant innovations into your designsLead efforts to innovate and improve the overall system performance through advanced antenna designs and spatial processing techniquesDocumentation and Reporting:Document algorithm design, development, and testing processes for future reference and knowledge sharingPrepare technical reports and presentations to communicate algorithm performance and project progress to internal and external stakeholdersParticipate in design and code reviews, offering constructive feedback to improve system performance.Collaboration and Leadership:Collaborate with system architects, hardware engineers, and software developers to ensure seamless integration of beamforming algorithms into communication systemsProvide technical mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment focused on continuous learning and improvementSupport system integration and field trials, offering expert guidance to ensure successful deployment in real-world and space environmentsWhat you bring to this role:Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field10+ years of experience in wireless algorithms development, focusing on beamforming, Massive MIMO, and antenna array systemsProficiency in algorithm development and simulation using tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, Python, and C++Strong background in antenna design, array processing, and RF systems for space-based or terrestrial communication systemsHands-on experience with real-time embedded systems, including FPGA and ASIC developmentKnowledge of spatial multiplexing, angular orthogonality, and advanced beamforming techniquesExcellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in complex, multi-disciplinary environmentsBonus points for the following:Experience in space industry communication systems, particularly for LEO satellite or other space-based platformsExpertise in 5GNR and 3GPP standardsHands-on experience with software-defined radio (SDR) platforms and antenna design for satellite communicationsExperience with hardware implementation and testing of communication systemsThis is a full time, exempt position, based out of our Saratoga office.  The target base pay for this position is $150,000 - $220,000 annually.  The total compensation packaged will be determined by various factors such as your relevant job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.  We are redefining how satellites are designed, manufactured and used—so we’re looking for candidates with passion, deep knowledge and direct experience on LEO satellite component development, design and in-orbit activities.
