Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?): SELF SCHEDULING. 0630-1900, 1830-0700Travelers will be scheduled. Will approve a limited amount of block schedulingWeekend Requirements: Every other weekendHoliday Requirements: 2-3 Holidays from Thanksgiving to New Years.Unit Specific Information
# of Beds: 55Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:5-6Common diagnosis / Types of patients: MedSurg/Tele- joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbation, prostatectomy, cellulitis, sepsis, ortho trauma, GI bleeds, pneumonia, failure to thriveAre RN's required to titrate drips?: Heparin, lidocaine, and ketamineCommon titratable &/or set rate drips: PCA pumpsIs there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: YesAre there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties?: Yes- 1:10-20Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RN's required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: Tele techs will interpret, RNs should have some tele awarenessHow many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?: 2 daysAdditional Details
Floating Requirements: Yes to other medical surgical areas or units with MedSurg patients waiting for a MedSurg bedScrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs Provided?: RNs: Navy BlueAdditional Notes: Have mechanical lifts in every other room, Big focus on hourly rounding and responsiveness, This unit typically has multiple discharges and admissions in one day- a nurse is successful on this unit when they can manage the business of the day, have good attendance, are a team player, friendly, compassionate, and cares about patients first. They serve patients of all cultures on this unit including Spanish, Karen, BurmeeseRadius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity.RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions.
