Description
SUMMARY:
The Jr. Quality Control Inspector will inspect parts and materials for compliance to specified requirements and perform
real-time defect evaluation. Main responsibilities include ballooning and creating inspection plans, final inspection,
and first article inspection report (FAIR) packet for shipping to the customer. We will rely on your strong
communication skills to interface with coworkers.
WHAT YOUR TYPICAL DAY LOOKS LIKE:
•Work on final inspection table, based on priorities identified
•Communicate with QC Manager with any discrepancies
•Review and sign off on Raw Material certifications as needed
•Assist with first article inspections (FAI's) as needed, if no more important in-process or final inspection jobs
•Ensure good hand offs between shift at the end of your day.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Follow all company policies
•Follow all Quality policies and procedures to ensure the output of your work and your team's work, maintains
the quality management system and continually improves its effectiveness
•Actively engage with the quality team to ensure the work you are producing is conforming to the customer,
regulatory and statutory requirements
•Balloon and create inspection plans for new and repeat parts
o Work with QC and Manufacturing programmers to determine which dimension belongs to which
operation
o What inspection tool is used per dimension per operation
o Result in a fully defined balloon drawing and inspection plan for all applicable operations
•Main inspector for performing final inspections. Ensures inspections are completed and documented
(including the inspection log and router/ERP system) in accordance with customer requirements and PSP
procedures to ensure that all product meets the established specifications for reliability and workmanship
•Trouble shoot and have open communication with the QC Manager, Sr. QC Inspectors and/or shop floor
employees for any reasons for a failure, and how to correct the issue
•Verify that all required process operations on the router have been performed on the product that is being
inspected
•Record into the ERP system all hours worked on each project every day. Verify that all inspection cycle times
listed on the traveler are accurate, or make updates/corrections if times are not accurate and submit change
requests on routers that require updates
•Performs real time defect evaluation, learning and following the process for nonconformances (NC's) when
they arise, and communicate any NC issues that require immediate attention to applicable personnel
•At final inspection, pull all required/applicable inspection documentation to populate an AS9102 FAIR or PPAP report, sign off as approved and link to the appropriate work order, review all applicable certifications for accuracy to drawing requirements. This should be complete so that shipping can print the documents and ship to the customer with no hiccups •Learning and assisting with all aspects of calibration system maintenance •Participate in audits, customer visits, and conference calls by speaking to auditors and customers about inspection, applicable processes, and other quality control related topics •Maintain and safely store all company owned gauges, tools, and equipment.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Attend meetings as required
•Participates in Customer, Regulatory Audits, and Manufacturing Floor Audits
•Assist with on-the-job trainings that may take place in this department, including observations by colleagues
•Assist teammates across all shifts as needed to ensure PSP achieves the set company goals
•Actively work with your supervisor and quality team to ensure departmental goals are being met
•Complete assigned trainings
•Other duties as assigned
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
•Strong reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required
•Ability to speak, read, write and communicate in English required
•Proficient computer skills including ability to use Excel, Word, and Outlook
•Previous experience with an ERP system preferred
•Experience in the field of machining or related field is preferred but not required
•Beginner at reading and interpreting drawings preferred
•Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers
•Ability to lift up to 30 pounds, more with mechanical assistance
•Strong customer service and interpersonal skills required
•Attention to detail
•Must be willing to learn how to perform measurements using the following tools: caliper, micrometer, height
gage, and optical comparator
•Ability to work well in a team setting, as well as independently
•Ability to function in a fast-paced environment and adapt well to changes
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves frequent lifting of materials up to 30
pounds. When on the manufacturing floor, safety glasses and closed-toe shoes are required (safety glasses are
provided). Ear plugs are available and are optional when working around loud equipment. The dress code is business
casual. Upon request, a company smock may be provided to those working on the manufacturing floor. Open food
and drinks are strictly prohibited on the manufacturing floor, shipping area, and the quality department.
