Basic knowledge of computer and laptop repair, including hardware and software troubleshooting. Strong problem-solving skills across various devices, including desktops, laptops, tablets, interactive boards, and network equipment. Familiarity with asset management systems for tracking technology inventory, repairs, and deployments. Ability to maintain vendor certifications to support the district's "self-maintainer" status, allowing onsite repairs and replacement part requests. Experience with ticketing systems for submitting, managing, and resolving technology support requests efficiently. Basic understanding of accounting principles to invoice for intentional damage outside of Accidental Damage Protection (ADP) coverage. Knowledge of device imaging and onboarding, including Pre-Execution Environment (PXE) booting and USB - based device imaging, preferred. Reports To: Director of Technology Supervises: N/A Primary Job Goal: To provide comprehensive technical support, ensuring the smooth operation of the district's technology systems. The Technology Support Specialist will troubleshoot and maintain hardware, software, and network resources to enhance the educational environment and meet administrative needs. The role focuses on minimizing downtime, maximizing productivity, and ensuring reliable access to technology for students, staff, and administrators. Performance Duties & Responsibilities: Provide timely, effective technical support to staff, students, and administrators for hardware, software, and network-related issues. Manage and prioritize technical support requests using the district's ticketing system, ensuring quick resolutions with minimal disruption. Troubleshoot and maintain wired and wireless network infrastructure, using tools such as cable testers and toners to diagnose issues. Configure and manage network settings, including IP addresses, DHCP, gateways, and DNS. Repair computers, laptops, and peripherals using vendor certifications to perform onsite repairs and request parts without returning devices to the manufacturer. Track and log all technology equipment using the district's asset management software, ensuring repairs, replacements, and updates are accurately recorded. Conduct physical inventory audits of technology assets twice a year, reporting any discrepancies to the Director of Technology. Apply basic accounting principles to invoice users for intentional damages not covered under ADP. Onboard, configure, and assign user devices, maintaining accurate records of all allocations using asset management tools. Provide training to staff and students on the effective use of classroom technology and systems. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology or his/her designee. Evaluation: Annual evaluation in compliance with TCSS procedures. Other Functions: Daily attendance and punctuality are required to ensure the goals of the work unit are met. Working Environment: The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: Sitting: 30% - Time spent seated at a desk or workstation. Standing/Walking: 40% - Time spent moving around or remaining on foot to assist with technology installations or troubleshooting. Lifting/Pulling/Pushing: 30% - Physical tasks, such as lifting equipment, pulling cables, or pushing carts, typically involving weights up to a weight range of 50 lbs.
