Position SummaryThe Metropolitan Airport Commission (MAC) is seeking a highly qualified professional with demonstrated revenue development success to take on this key leadership role. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Vice President, Commercial Revenue Officer (CRO) position oversees and manages the revenue and business development division. The incumbent is responsible for providing leadership in the development of people, strategies, policies and programs for all areas of oversight. As a member of the MAC Senior Staff team, the individual selected for this position will be tasked with assisting the organization in maximizing its revenue potential. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in revenue development along with a demonstrated ability to create new economic value for the organization through innovative and entrepreneurial revenue strategies for new and existing aeronautical and non-aeronautical revenues.

The Vice President, CRO provides leadership for a variety of revenue functions and activities, including negotiating, implementing and managing aeronautical and non-aeronautical properties, real estate, concessions programs for food and retail as well as hotel lease management, sponsorships, auto rentals and airline agreements. The position also plays an important leadership role in other revenue generating areas of the organization, including parking and transportation – the largest non-aeronautical revenue source for the MAC. The position serves as a staff liaison to the Operations, Finance and Administrative Committee. As a member of the MAC Senior Staff team, the selected individual will be the executive sponsor for the assigned enterprise strategic priorities for the organization and will have an active role in the successful execution of all strategic priorities.

Position DescriptionPeople Leadership

Create and maintain a rewarding and productive work environment

Develop workforce plans for division

Develop and implement succession management plan for division staff

Direct the activity of division employees, and integrate MAC's Purpose, Values, and Enterprise Strategic Goals into areas of responsibility

Conduct regularly scheduled division meetings to communicate organizational goals, issues and information to employees

Exercise supervisory authority in accordance with MAC Human Resource Policy, MAC Administration Manual, and/or the appropriate collective bargaining agreement

Hire, develop, recognize, transfer, discipline and discharge employees

Facilitate effective working relationships among department employees

Hear and adjust employee grievances

Communicate clear performance expectations and standards to division employees

Conduct regular performance review discussions

Revenue Development

Responsible for planning, organizing and directing revenue growth strategies in the areas of concessions, commercial land development, car rentals, cargo development, airline agreements, hotel agreements at MSP and reliever airports

Maximize revenue and profitability from advertising, real estate and facilities, parking, sponsorship opportunities and other non-aeronautical assets and services

Conduct research to identify internal and external opportunities to expand and optimize revenue-producing activities.

Evaluate all airline rates and charges to ensure revenue stream is being maximized, and identify opportunities to enhance revenue growth

Participate in staff evaluation sessions of new MAC business opportunities to determine if financially sound revenue potential exists

Oversee lease rates consistent with fair market value of the property and facilities being leased; establish industry proforma and ensure compliance with all leases

Oversee financial modeling and revenue projection processes in order to determine the financial feasibility of a prospective vendor or concessionaire

Oversee ongoing land acquisition and tenant-related capital improvement projects at MSP

Utilize technological tools and dashboard systems to monitor financial operational performance and recommend actions to potentially improve revenue generation

Strategic and Operational Planning

Assist the Chief Financial Officer with development and implementation of strategic direction for RBD and organization, in accordance with MAC’s Purpose and Values

Facilitate collaboration and integration of goals and operations across the organization and within the division. Ensure goals integrate and directly support the MAC’s strategic plan

Facilitate the development and achievement of MAC’s financial and strategic goals

Assist as necessary the Chief Financial Officer in the alignment of the capital improvement plan and annual operating budget with the enterprise strategic plan related to revenue generation.

Commission Responsibilities

As needed, supports the Operations, Finance and Administration Committee as a staff liaison and advisor.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Accounting, Public Administration or a related field

Ten years of progressive leadership experience in business or revenue development

In lieu of a degree, fourteen years of progressive leadership experience in business or revenue development

Five years of professional experience effectively managing people and teams

Significant experience presenting to or advising executive committees, public committees, or boards of directors

Excellent communication skills, including the ability to translate complex, technical information to audiences not versed in financial matters

Skilled at building effective relationships with key partners

Valid driver’s license

Reliable vehicle to commute between job sites

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS

Master’s Degree or other advanced degree

Experience in business or revenue development within a medium or large United States airport
