Network Administrator
to join the team with the Operations &Test Division. on the JETS II Contract at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. We are excited about what we do, and we need you on our team as we take on exciting challenges for NASA's pursuits in deep space exploration.
As a
Network Administrator
you will:
Will have responsibility for the Crew and Thermal Systems Division computer network which supports a variety of systems/devices including the SCADA-based data acquisition systemsCollaborate with IT team members to maintain a robust division network that supports a wide variety of labs, test chambers, and space engineeringAssist in network design and architecture for enhancing availability, resilience and reliabilityIdentify and configure tools for network monitoring, IP management and asset monitoringProvide clear and timely communication to all stakeholders including network users, system engineers, IT management, NASA committees and groups, and external vendorsTerminate and install UTP and fiber optic cablesAssist in configuring and deploying network devicesDocument network systems configuration by creating and maintaining detailed drawingsProvide comprehensive operation and maintenance support of network systemsManage and track inventory of network systems within the supported divisionTrack and adhere to software licenses for supported systemsConduct network problem root-cause analyses, address incidents, and implement remediation and corrective measuresResolve and track network incidents and problems using the ServiceNow ticketing systemConduct proactive risk assessment and implement mitigation strategiesApply software updates and patches to ensure compliance with IT security standardsComply with IT Security policies and implement controls for supported systemsEnsure compliance with company standards and policiesPerform additional duties as assigned by supervisor and team leadHere's What You'll Need:
Requisition Qualifications:
Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent certification in a related area and aminimum of 5 years of experience in the field or in a related areaPossess a good understanding of LAN, WAN, WLAN, VLAN, and EthernetFull understanding of the 7-layers of the OSI model, their functions and purposeExtensive knowledge of network device types and their use cases, including hubs, bridges,switches, routers, firewalls, and VPN concentratorsKnowledge of different media types, such as UTP, Coaxial, Fiber Optic, and knowledgeFamiliarity with various network operating systems, including Cisco IOS, Juniper JunOSProficient in installing and configuring Windows 10/11 and TCP/IP protocolRequisition Preferences:
Familiarity with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and proceduresExperience with Network management tools - SolarWinds, PRTG,CCNA Certification
Proof of US Citizenship or US Permanent Residency may be a requirement for this position.
Must be able to complete a US government background investigation.
Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which this position has been advertised.

Work Environment
Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
Physical Requirements
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).
Equipment and Machines
Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).
Attendance
Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.

Professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
