Our client, a prestigious law firm based in Miami, FL, is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Litigation Paralegal fluent in Portuguese to join their team. The ideal candidate will support attorneys in managing complex litigation cases and play a key role in the success of the firm's practice by handling various tasks from case preparation to client communication.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist attorneys with all phases of litigation, from case inception through trial and appeal, including document review, analysis, and management.- Draft, edit, and proofread correspondence, pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and other legal documents.- Coordinate and manage document productions, including organizing, indexing, and preparing exhibits.- Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis, summarize findings, and present to attorneys.- Prepare and manage case files, ensuring all relevant documents are filed properly and updated regularly.- Assist with discovery, including gathering, reviewing, and producing documents, as well as tracking discovery responses and deadlines.- Manage and maintain electronic databases and case management systems for document management and trial preparation.- Serve as a liaison between attorneys, clients, experts, and witnesses, providing updates and coordinating communication as necessary.- Attend depositions, trials, and court hearings to provide support to attorneys as needed.- Translate and interpret Portuguese documents and communications for legal purposes.
Qualifications:- Education: Bachelor's degree or paralegal certificate from an accredited institution preferred.- Experience: Minimum 5+ years of experience as a litigation paralegal in a law firm setting.- Language: Fluency in English and Portuguese (both written and spoken) is required.- Strong knowledge of federal and state court procedures, rules, and e-filing systems.- Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.- High proficiency in legal research tools and case management software.- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.- High level of professionalism and ability to handle confidential information.
