ROLEWe are seeking an experienced Bankruptcy Paralegal to support the U.S. Attorney's Office (USAO), Northern District of Georgia (NDGA). Legal SupportExamine, prepare, and process a variety of legal, tax, and financial documentsReview incoming material, determine case needs, and assemble legal documentsObtain needed information from files, agencies, or other sourcesSubmit completed legal documents to the appropriate AUSA or courtPrepare legal actions like subpoenas, notices, and objections with limited instructionsAssist attorneys in hearings or trials through preparation and supportCompile trial notebooks, witness lists, and handle courtroom technologyVerify citations and statutory references using legal resourcesEnsure citations are consistent with source materialCompose original communications that require a knowledge of legal proceduresFile and serve government pleadings in bankruptcy courtII. AdministrationReceive visitors, telephone callers, and furnish requested informationEstablish and maintain a variety of electronic and physical filesAssemble exhibits, affidavits, and other legal documentsPerform docketing duties like opening, updating, and closing casesEnter information into databases and monitor for updatesPrepare and submit bills and invoices to the budget office for paymentMaintain a calendar of active cases, tracking deadlines and scheduling eventsDevelop a suspense system for ongoing cases and inform the AUSA of deadlinesReview, assess, and sort incoming bankruptcy mail for new casesContact appropriate agency counsel for all new cases received via mailIII. Document ProductionProduce written documents using a range of office software applicationsIntegrate outputs from different software types into word processing textEnsure proper format, spelling, and grammar in all written documentsIV. Automated Litigation AssistanceProvide litigation support using software applications and graphics hardwarePrepare documents, charts, and visual materials for trialsProvide technical support by enlarging charts and duplicating mediaV. Applicants will be subject to a background investigation. Individual's primary workstation is located in an office area. The noise level in this environment is low to moderate. Regularly required to sit for extended periods up to 100% of the time; frequently required to move about to access file cabinets and use office equipment such as PC, copier, fax, telephone, cell phone, etc. Occasionally required to reach overhead, bend, and lift objects of up to 10 lbs.
