Data Architect III
SPN Solutions Inc. seeks a Data Architect III to join our team supporting a critical Navy contract at Naval Air Station North Island in San Diego, California. This position is located on-site at the Naval Air Station North Island, San Diego California and has the potential for telework as authorized. This position requires a Secret security clearance and advanced technical expertise in data architecture, data modeling, data governance, and ETL strategy. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing complex data systems and supporting end-to-end data management processes to enable effective decision-making across mission-critical environments.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field.Certifications: Certified Business Intelligence Professional (CBIP) and Security+.Security Clearance: SecretExperience: Minimum of 5 years in data architecture roles, with proficiency in Kimball methodology, data warehousing best practices, data governance frameworks, and ETL strategy development.Role Responsibilities:
Data Modeling and Architecture:Develop and maintain data models using Kimball methodology and Erwin tools to support both transactional and data warehouse environments for Fleet Readiness Centers (FRCs).Implement data governance structures that establish consistent naming conventions, standardize data definitions, and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.Architect data solutions to support scalable, high-quality data access across systems, focusing on data normalization, schema design, and data storage optimization.Database Development and Maintenance:Lead the design, development, and maintenance of complex SQL/PLSQL database environments, ensuring data integrity and scalability.Develop stored procedures and advanced SQL queries to support data retrieval and database performance optimization across high-demand operational and reporting environments.Perform data analysis to identify inconsistencies, optimize data flows, and resolve integration challenges with external and internal data sources.Data Warehousing and ETL Strategy:Define the ETL strategy, identifying best practices for data extraction, transformation, and loading to ensure high-quality, reliable data flow into the data warehouse.Collaborate with ETL teams to create data pipelines that transform and load data from diverse sources into structured formats for effective data analysis and reporting.Apply data quality assurance protocols to monitor, validate, and enhance data integrity, ensuring alignment with government standards and requirements.Testing and Quality Assurance:Develop and execute testing protocols that ensure data models, ETL processes, and database configurations meet performance and reliability standards.Work closely with ETL, quality assurance, and database administration teams to conduct rigorous system acceptability testing and integration testing.Address and resolve data quality issues, incorporating corrective measures into data management workflows and documenting findings and solutions.Knowledge Transfer and Mentoring:Provide ongoing mentorship and training on data warehousing best practices, data modeling techniques, and ETL methodologies for government personnel.Prepare comprehensive documentation to support knowledge continuity and system understanding across teams, promoting best practices in data management and governance.Technical Proficiency Needed:
Kimball Methodology: Strong command of Kimball's dimensional data modeling techniques, including fact and dimension table design.Data Modeling Tools: Proficiency in Erwin or equivalent modeling tools for logical and physical data model development.SQL and PL/SQL Development: Advanced SQL skills to develop complex queries, stored procedures, and data transformation logic.ETL Tools and Frameworks: Expertise in ETL development and managing ETL tools and processes, including data validation, transformation rules, and error handling.Data Quality and Governance: Ability to implement data governance frameworks, quality control measures, and data lineage tracking within data architecture.Benefits:
