Tesla's mission to solve self-driving, humanize real-world AI, & optimize critical manufacturing processes presents exascale data challenges in each respective domain. The Distributed Database team is tasked with pushing the absolute limits of networking & compute hardware to accelerate these efforts across all areas within the company.In this role, you will build the next generation of distributed database service platforms to underpin mission-critical services for Tesla's customers, employees, and manufacturing. Your work will capitalize on the largest edge footprint possible in a globally distributed manufacturing setting, while defining the state-of-the-art in distributed database design altogether.

Responsibilities

Implement optimal Systems Architectures and Software DesignPush the performance limits of hardware with nuanced understanding of CPU architecture and NetworkingImplement low-level, cache and pipeline friendly, ultra-high performance codeRigorously benchmark and analyze our distributed systems for performance and correctnessCollaborate with our global datacenter, cloud, networking, and load balancing teams to develop a world-class, secure, & fault-resilient storage layer for our workloadsContribute to state-of-the-art test automation, and continuous deployment, and configuration managementWork with InfoSec on continually reinforcing secure by defaultAuthor technical documentation, reference architectures, policies, and best practices for our platformsRequirements

Proficiency with at least 2 low-level programming languages such as C, C++, or RustExpert knowledge of distributed database engine development, query engine design, and low-level performance optimizationExperience with applied mathematics, distributed algorithms, and Internet-scale data platform software engineering is preferredWorking knowledge of DPDK & SPDK is preferredExcellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skillsBachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or proof of exceptional skills in related fieldCompensation and BenefitsBenefits

$120,000 - $300,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
