Primary Purpose of Job:
To develop and direct a disciplined, integrated and planned approach to marketing and advertising with a clear emphasis on the evaluation of their impact on overall sales/profit performance. Ensure productive, open two-way communication with all departments. Be innovative and provide vision, always looking for improvements.
Major Functions:
Provide effective leadership for my department(s) and effectively manage my direct-report employees.
Departmental leadership• Create and maintain an environment within the department that allows employees to grow and succeed.• Ensure all employees in the department have the tools they need to be successful in their positions and are meeting the needs of their customers.• Ensure proper staffing to meet the needs of the organization.• Provide leadership and guidance and make sure employees are in alignment with QuikTrip's strategic plan and key initiatives.
Manage my direct-report employees.• Develop employees and help each grow to full potential in his/her respective job.• Ensure employees receive the training necessary to be successful in their position.• Praise, reprimand and counsel employees appropriately.• Ensure the right people are in the right jobs.• Establish rapport with all direct-report employees and be available for counseling (career, problems, questions, etc.).• Maintain employee records according to company policy.• Update and adhere to all QuikTrip policies and procedures concerning management practices and/or mandated regulations and laws.• Ensure direct-report employees adhere to all QuikTrip policies and procedures, operating practices and /or mandated regulations and laws.• Ensure that all management treatment of direct-report employees is fair and consistent.• Promote personnel efficiency, production, and scheduling cost effectively.• Develop and execute a tactical plan with your employees to support the QuikTrip strategic plan and key initiatives.
Strategic Planning• Develop and execute tactical plans to support QuikTrip's Strategic Plan and key initiatives.• Collaborate with Sales, Operations and QT's external agency on the development and execution of the strategic goals to meet the KPIs established for the initiatives.• Develop and execute tactical plans to support QuikTrip's Strategic Plan and key initiatives.• Ensure Marketing staff members are doing their part in achieving the expected due dates of the Strategic Plan and report changes in a timely fashion.• Conduct monthly reviews of plan initiatives and tactical items and provide status updates for plan items that you own.• Oversee the hiring and ongoing management of QT's external advertising and PR agency partners to ensure they are providing appropriate support in developing and executing on strategies and tactics.
Provide direct oversight on agency support and annual audits of billing.
Manage, direct and integrate all activities within the Marketing department to include Advertising, Digital Marketing, Loyalty Program including QTPay, Customer Engagement, Graphics, Contributions, Sponsorships, Public Relations and Corporate News material. Develop and implement short and long-range strategies and tactics to support each of these disciplines.
Initiate, develop and implement methods to measure marketing campaign effectiveness with Business Intelligence and outside partners. Allocate resources appropriately based on measured results.
Supervise preparation of annual marketing plans and budgets; exercise control to ensure that plans are executed in a timely manner within established budgets.
Initiate, and supervise all trademark, patent and copyright matters. Supervise new product name development and packaging. Maintain store design as a part of the brand. Protect the overall QuikTrip Brand and all other QuikTrip Brand properties.
Assist in the effective advertisement of our food brands; oversee the scheduling for introduction of new items; and help to determine timing on food promotions for best overall impact to the store in regard to signage.
Attend the following meetings:• Quarterly P&L Statement review.• Monthly Corporate Staff meetings• Various conventions and trade shows.• Annual NACS (Association for Convenience & Fuel Retailing) show as needed.• Division and Corporate Ops meetings.• Annual Corporate Strategic Planning.• Annual DM (Division Manager) Strategic Plan Meeting.• Quarterly DM meeting.
Position in Organization
Reports to: Vice President of Sales/Marketing/Production and Distribution/Chief Marketing Officer.
Directly supervises: Brand Manager, Digital Brand and Experience Manager, Community Relations Manager, Marketing and Community Relations Manager.
Indirectly supervises: Marketing Assistant, Advertising Manager, Communication Specialist, Marketing Customer Engagement Team, Graphics and Marketing Team.
Relationships
Inside the Company: Company personnel at all levels.
Outside the Company: Vendors, outside consulting firms, executives of related organizations, trade association members, personnel agencies, press, governmental personnel, creative writers, artists, television and radio production personnel.
Position Specifications
Required education:
College degree in Business, Marketing, or equivalent experience.
Desired education:
N/A
Required experience : Ten years' marketing experience. Experience with data analytics and loyalty programs, leading large teams, managing agency relationships, leading large-scale, cross-organizational initiatives and influencing organizational strategy.
Desired experience:
Experience leading an entire Marketing Department. Development of customer engagement and digital marketing strategies, including social, mobile apps and web. Experience in multi-unit retail organizations, with strong preference for food industry experience. Experience overseeing and coordinating multiple media agencies and partners.
Required skills:
Strong organization and supervisory skills; understanding of data structures and data analysis; ability to plan and execute long and short term; self-motivated; ability to generate initiative; strong analytical abilities; good creative talent, ability to make decisions; working knowledge of graphics, print, radio, and television production; research; media planning, buying and evaluation; strong sense of consumer motivation and behavior.

Strong critical and creative thinking abilities. Must exercise good judgement and common sense. Ability to work in a staff position with considerable responsibility.
