The Information System Security Specialist II (Cybersecurity) is responsible for maintaining and improving the cybersecurity posture of systems and networks at the Portsmouth and St. Julien’s Creek Annex sites. This full-time, onsite position requires a hands-on approach to security operations, including patching, scanning, reporting, and testing. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of cybersecurity experience and hold an IAT II certification, such as Security+. Experience with VoIP, VRAM, networking support, and Avaya systems is highly desired. The role requires an active SECRET clearance and involves occasional travel up to 25%.
Responsibilities
Perform patching and scanning to ensure systems and networks meet cybersecurity compliance requirements.
Conduct cybersecurity testing and reporting to identify vulnerabilities and improve system defenses.
Support cyber lab security and contribute to the secure operation of network environments.
Assist with networking support, including configuration and maintenance of network infrastructure.
Work with VoIP and/or VRAM systems, ensuring cybersecurity standards are met across communications platforms.
Collaborate with teams to maintain and enhance the security of systems, both locally and across networks.
Ensure compliance with DoD and Navy cybersecurity standards and policies.
Provide technical expertise in maintaining the security of Avaya telephony systems (preferred).
Maintain documentation and generate reports on security status, vulnerabilities, and risk mitigation efforts.
Travel up to 25% for site visits, cybersecurity assessments, and technical meetings.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
Certifications: IAT II certification required (e.g., Security+).
Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in cybersecurity, with a focus on patching, scanning, and security testing.
Hands-on experience in cybersecurity reporting and testing.
Cyber lab security, networking support, VoIP, and/or VRAM experience is a plus.
Avaya systems experience is preferred.
Active SECRET clearance is required.
Strong technical and troubleshooting skills, with attention to detail.
