Job Title: MEP DesignerJob Description
We are currently hiring for an MEP Designer to support a reputable A&E firm in the Columbus Metropolitan area. As an MEP Designer, you will focus on commercial building projects within the Building Systems group. You will report to a Licensed Project Lead Engineer and support them in a mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design/engineering capacity. Your role will include managing the technical content of building projects and overseeing all steps of the project process. You will utilize AutoCAD and Revit design software to produce construction documents, primarily for retail clients. Additionally, you will perform preliminary calculations for HVAC, ventilation, electrical, plumbing, sanitary, and water supply systems. This position offers the opportunity to work a hybrid schedule and transition to a full-time employee of the A&E firm after nine months.
Responsibilities
Support a Licensed Project Lead Engineer in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design/engineering.
Manage the technical content of building projects.
Oversee all steps of the project process.
Utilize AutoCAD and Revit design software to produce construction documents for commercial buildings.
Complete preliminary calculations for HVAC, ventilation, electrical, plumbing, sanitary, and water supply systems.
Work within the Building Systems group on various project types including retail, government, education, healthcare, and parks & recreation.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit design software.
Experience producing construction documents for commercial or retail projects.
Knowledge of HVAC, ventilation, electrical, plumbing, sanitary, and water supply systems.
Associate's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer or Electrical Engineer for building systems.
Strong understanding of engineering calculations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Ability to learn and train in all disciplines of MEP engineering.
Experience with building codes and building design.
Not prone to frequent job changes.
Work Environment
The work schedule is Monday to Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM. A hybrid schedule is available, with office days on Monday and Wednesday, and remote work on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
