Our challenge

As a Java Architect, the candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable, high-performance systems that support our fraud detection and payment processing initiatives. Candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that our technology solutions meet the needs of our business and comply with industry standards.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Pittsburgh, PA and Dallas, TX is $120k - $130k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities

: Lead the architectural design and development of fraud detection and payment processing systems.

Collaborate with product owners, developers, and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.

Design and implement RESTful APIs and microservices for payment processing and fraud detection.

Ensure system scalability, security, and performance through best practices in coding and architecture.

Conduct code reviews and provide technical guidance to development teams.

Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements related to fraud and payments.

Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.

Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to payment and fraud systems.

Mentor junior developers and promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Requirements:

You are:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.

10+ years of experience in Java development.

Strong background in designing and implementing fraud detection and payment processing systems within the banking sector.

Proficiency in Java, Spring Framework, and related technologies (e.g., Hibernate, RESTful APIs).

Experience with microservices architecture and cloud-based solutions (AWS, Azure, etc.).

Familiarity with payment gateways, fraud detection algorithms, and regulatory compliance standards (PCI DSS, etc.).

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

It would be great if you also had:

Experience with Big Data technologies (Hadoop, Spark) for fraud analytics.

Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, JavaScript) for automation and tool development.

Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Git, Docker).
