Job Title:
Human Resources Generalist
Reports to: CHRO
Exempt, Full Time, 12 month schedule
Position Overview: The Human Resources Generalist plays a key role in managing the daily HR operations, including onboarding, benefits administration, HRIS management, compliance, training, and employee relations. The ideal candidate will support the CHRO in creating a positive work environment, ensuring compliance with all HR policies and procedures, and contributing to the overall culture and engagement of the school's staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Onboarding & Offboarding:
Initiate and manage onboarding processes for new hires, including HRIS setup and internal systems.
Manage benefits enrollment and compliance for new employees.
Collaborate with program supervisors to manage onboarding for summer, seasonal, and athletic new hires.
Ensure compliance with background check documentation (CJIS, I-9, CPS, etc.).
Oversee the offboarding process for departing employees.
HRIS Management:
Manage changes in HRIS, including compensation, status, and job title updates.
Ensure all relevant documents (e.g., job offers, position descriptions, certifications) are uploaded to HRIS.
Conduct HRIS audits to ensure data accuracy and generate reports as needed.
Coordinate annual compensation adjustments in collaboration with the CHRO.
Benefits Administration:
Implement and manage benefit programs, serving as a liaison between the school and insurance carriers.
Communicate benefit options to employees and provide counseling on plan provisions, including medical, dental, vision, and retirement plans.
Reconcile monthly benefits invoices and manage anniversary leave increases in HRIS.
Work with benefits brokers to ensure smooth operations and keep employees informed of changes to benefit programs.
Training, Compliance, & Policy:
Manage new hire and annual compliance training, ensuring all documentation is uploaded to LMS/HRIS.
Regularly audit employee files for compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
Assist the CHRO in developing policies for the employee handbook.
Address employee inquiries regarding HR policies, procedures, and programs.
Employee Relations & Engagement:
Support and guide employees and supervisors through the employee grievance process and performance management.
Develop performance management tools and systems in collaboration with the CHRO.
Coordinate wellness programs and employee engagement initiatives throughout the year.
Leave of Absence (LOA) Management:
Manage the workers' compensation process for any work-related injuries, including leave of absence requests.
In coordination with the CHRO, manage FMLA, ADA, STD, LTD, and other leave requests.
Maintain LOA data and follow up with employees and supervisors as necessary.
Data Analysis & Reporting:
Develop and maintain reports for HR data analysis in coordination with the CHRO.
Manage annual filings, including EEOC and 403b census, and respond to verification of employment requests and unemployment claims.
Miscellaneous:
Manage the school's membership accounts with professional organizations (AIMS, NAIS).
Coordinate with the business office for any required filings or reports.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
3+ years of experience in human resources management.
Strong knowledge of HRIS systems, compliance requirements, and benefit programs.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of employees and departments.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in education or nonprofit organizations.
SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or PHR certification.
Compensation and Benefits:
Salary Range:
$70-80k
