Overview
Bowhead seeks a Junior Configuration Management (CM) Specialist.
The CM Specialist serves an essential role on a software system with the key responsibility of managing the configuration control/change process whilst also ensuring proper configuration status accounting for project documentation and critical system information. The CM Specialist maintains oversight of system baselines and Configuration Item (CI) information stored in the project Configuration Management Database (CMDB). The CM Specialist may serve across several projects directly supporting the project systems engineer and project manager.
Responsibilities
• Serve as a Configuration Management Specialist on a portfolio of systems in the United States Marine Corps.
• Oversee the receipting, tracking, storage, dissemination, retiring, and reporting of system baseline information.
• Perform data entry of system baseline information into the project CMDB.
• In conjunction with the project engineer and logistician, conduct Physical Configuration Audits (PCA) and Functional Configuration Audits (FCA), document audit results, and ensure the CMDB is updated to appropriately reflect audit findings.
• Maintain an electronic library of system change requests and engineering change proposals.
• Assist the project engineer and project manager in organizing and executing the Engineering Review Board (ERB) and Configuration Control Board (CCB).
• Manage and analyze various system baselines to support ERB & CCB planning, configuration status reporting, and documentation requirements throughout the project life cycle.
• Attend and participate in various project team meetings, working groups, and planning events. Participation may include briefing status updates in relation to configuration management.
• Assist the project systems engineer and project manager in constructing briefing material in support of change management events, technical reviews, and management reviews.
Qualifications
• Two plus (2+) years operating in a DoD IT environment.
• Two plus (2+) years of experience with configuration management.
• Two plus (2+) years of experience working on an IT project.
• In lieu of experience, a four year degree focusing in Information Technology, Computer Science, or similar curriculum.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products, emphasizing Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Desired Experience:
• Experience with configuration management in a DoD environment.
• A background or experience working in a software development environment.
• Knowledge of NIST SP 800-128 – Guide for Security Focused Configuration Management of Information Systems.
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Successfully pass a T1 investigation. Candidates with a security clearance are highly encouraged to apply. US Citizenship is required.
Physical Demands:
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
• Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
• Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
