Position overviewDelta Utilities is seeking a benefits administrator to oversee and manage the company’s employee benefits programs, ensuring offerings are competitive, compliant, and align with employee needs. This role is a full-time position based in New Orleans, Louisiana.
This individual will be responsible for administering Delta Utilities’ health, retirement, and wellness programs, serving as a knowledgeable resource for employees, and ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of benefits processes.
Key Responsibilities
Administer all employee benefits programs, including health insurance, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), disability, and wellness programs
Manage the open enrollment process, including coordinating with vendors, communicating changes to employees, and ensuring seamless enrollment
Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including ACA, ERISA, COBRA, and HIPAA
Respond to employee inquiries regarding benefits options, eligibility, and claims processes, providing excellent customer service and timely follow-up
Liaise with external benefits providers, insurance brokers, and other third-party administrators to resolve issues and optimize service
Conduct regular audits of benefits records, including employee eligibility, benefits deductions, and billing to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies
Collaborate with payroll to ensure accurate benefits deductions and reporting
Support benefits communications by preparing materials, presentations, and updates to inform employees of benefits plans and updates
Assist in designing and implementing wellness programs and initiatives that support employee health and wellbeing
Track, analyze, and report on benefits utilization, costs, and trends to identify opportunities for program enhancements
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field
At least three years of experience in benefits administration, preferably within a utility or similar industry
Experience with benefits management systems and HRIS platforms
Strong understanding of federal and state regulations governing employee benefits
Excellent organizational skills with a high attention to detail
Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex benefits information to employees
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and experience with benefits or HRIS platforms (e.g., Workday, ADP)

The natural gas utility currently serves more than 200,000 customers across East Baton Rouge and Orleans parishes. In February 2024, Delta Utilities entered into an agreement with CenterPoint Energy to acquire its Louisiana and Mississippi natural gas businesses, which currently serve approximately 381,000 customers. Once the transactions are complete, Entergy's Louisiana natural gas operations and CenterPoint Energy's Louisiana and Mississippi natural gas systems will be operated by Delta Utilities.
