Dentons US LLP is currently recruiting for a Marketing Communications Specialist to be resident in our New York, Chicago or Washington, DC office. This is a new position within our Clients & Markets team.
The successful candidate will need to have intellectual curiosity, an ability to see the big picture and be proactive on identifying and keeping on top of trends and issues that may have an impact on the Firm and the clients we serve. They will be comfortable with both developing and executing on strategies and plans to raise the profile for individuals, practice areas and the Firm as a whole in relevant markets and the media. This role calls for an exceptionally strong writer with experience in both marketing communications and public relations. The ability to take the lead on projects and collaborate as a member of the team is essential.
Our ideal candidate will be skilled at distilling complex topics into relatable messaging that connects with the intended audience. This individual will excel at developing and delivering original ideas for content, drafting deliverables and working collaboratively with colleagues to improve upon existing content. Deliverables will include, but not be limited to, marketing collateral and other client-facing pieces, articles for third-party publication, website content, brochures, award nominations, social posts, presentations, reports, and internal and external newsletters.
Responsibilities
Identify and interview expert sources to create compelling media pitches and marketing collateral pieces
Develop unique ideas and/or fresh approaches to existing processes
Draft, edit and proofread various materials as assigned
Draft high-quality content for internal and external marketing materials that enhance our strategy while adhering to brand standards
Maintain project status, deadlines and contacts in marketing communications calendar
Independently perform background research as needed
Duties may be ongoing or ad hoc in nature
Other duties as may be assigned to fully meet the requirements of the position
Experience and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in English, writing, journalism, communications or related field required; graduate degree desirable
Minimum 5 years’ of relevant experience required; previous law firm or other professional services experience strongly preferred
Exceptional writing and editing skills
Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills
Logistical and planning skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and requests simultaneously under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Ability to quickly grasp technical legal jargon and make it understandable in text
Self-motivated, enjoys learning new things and demonstrates reliability and professionalism
Ability to function effectively both independently and as a member of a team
Detailed knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products
Basic understanding of web and social media platforms

Salary:
New York and Washington DC Only: $110,000 - $130,000 DOE
