Responsibilities:
Leadership and Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans for the Milk Bank in alignment with hospital goals. Provide visionary leadership to drive growth, quality improvement, and operational efficiency. Operational Management: Oversee the daily operations of the Milk Bank, including milk collection, screening, processing, distribution, maintaining equipment and ordering supplies. Ensure compliance with local, state, and national regulations and standards (e.g., HMBANA guidelines) and WMC Milk Bank policies and procedures. Manage inventory, ensuring adequate supply of donor milk for hospital use. Quality Assurance and Safety: Establish and maintain rigorous quality assurance protocols for milk handling and processing. Implement safety measures to prevent contamination or mishandling of donor milk. Monitor and evaluate outcomes related to donor milk usage and patient outcomes. Team Leadership and Development: Recruit, train, and supervise Milk Bank staff, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide professional development opportunities. Community Engagement and Outreach: Collaborate with healthcare providers, lactation consultants, and community organizations to promote donor milk awareness. Participate in outreach programs to recruit potential milk donors and educate the community about the benefits of donor milk. Research and Innovation: Stay abreast of current research and best practices in human donor milk banking. Conduct continuous improvement projects and foster innovation within the Milk Bank. Qualifications/Requirements:
Experience:
5 years experience in related field preferred
Education:
Bachelor Degree required.
Licenses / Certifications:
IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) or CLC (Certification in Lactation Counseling) preferred but not required.
Other:
Excellent computer skills, specifically working with Excel and Word, attention to detail, good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
