Assists, plans, and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), and Department of Transportation (DOT). Advises Safety Director on safety compliance concerns and preventative actions. Plans and implements training for employees on worksite safety practices. Maintains safety files and records. Performs safety surveys and inspections. Prepares written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented. Conducts post-accident investigation and prepares reports identifying possible causes and hazards. Accompanies personnel to job sites to perform drug tests. Assists in the development, evaluation, and upgrading of safety programs. Manages inspection of job sites, equipment, and vehicles to ensure safe working conditions.
Responsibilities
Implement and comply with safety policies and procedures in accordance with OSHA, MSHA, and DOT regulations.

Plan and conduct training sessions for employees on worksite safety practices.
Maintain and organize safety files and records.
Conduct safety surveys and inspections.
Prepare written reports of safety findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures.
Follow up to ensure safety measures have been implemented.
Conduct post-accident investigations and prepare reports to identify possible causes and hazards.
Accompany personnel to job sites to perform drug tests.
Assist in the development, evaluation, and upgrading of safety programs.
Manage inspections of job sites, equipment, and vehicles to ensure safe working conditions.
Essential Skills
At least 3 years of safety-related experience in the construction industry.
Experience with OSHA regulations, First Aid/CPR, Confined Spaces, DOT, and/or Excavation safety.
Bachelor’s Degree in an environmental and/or occupational health and safety related field preferred.
Certified Health and Safety Technician (CHST) preferred.
Proficiency in writing detailed reports, procedures, and documenting investigations.
Experience presenting to and training small groups on safety procedures and regulations.
Ability to effectively respond to questions from groups, managers, and customers.
Excellent computer and communication skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
CHST certification preferred.
Bachelor’s Degree in an environmental and/or occupational health and safety related field preferred.
Work Environment
This position is based in Omaha at a Google or Microsoft Data Center location. The work schedule is Monday to Friday with 11-hour days, and Saturday with an 8-hour day. The dress code includes jeans, work boots, and work-appropriate t-shirts/sweatshirts. High visibility vests, glasses, hard hats, gloves, and other necessary safety gear will be provided on-site.
