The Systems Administrator will be responsible for ensuring the security and efficiency of IT infrastructure at Fort Irwin. The role requires an individual with a strong technical background and expertise in managing and configuring IT systems in compliance with DoD standards.
Administers, develops, runs tests, implements, and maintains operating system and related software. Establishes and implements standards for computer operations for compatibility between hardware and software, according to specifications and parameters. Troubleshoots and resolves software, operating system, and networking problems. Schedules, performs, and monitors system backups and performs data recoveries. Recommends hardware and software upgrades according to growth statistics and disk space forecasts. Provides technical support for system users. Performs work under direct supervision. Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
Responsibilities
Oversees and manages system installations, configurations, and updates at Fort Irwin.
Ensures all systems are operating with the highest level of security and efficiency.
Monitors system performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
Collaborates with the cybersecurity team to implement security measures and ensure compliance with DoD standards.
Maintains documentation for system procedures and operations.
Provides technical support and guidance to other team members.
Stays updated with the latest trends and best practices in IT system administration.
Qualifications
Bachelor's/Associates degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred. 3 three years experience in lieu of bachelors.
1 One-year experience working in UNCLASSIFIED and CLASSIFIED environments.
IAT-II certification is required (CompTIA Security+, CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, or SSCP).
Active SECRET) security clearance required.
Proven experience as a Systems Administrator or similar role.
Familiarity with DoD Cyber Workforce standards and requirements.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience with Microsoft SCCM/MECM, ACAS & SCAP scanning, STIG checklists, PowerShell scripting, and dealing with IAVAs on both UNCLASSIFIED and CLASSIFIED systems.
Must be able to obtain and maintain MECM, Windows 10/11 and Windows Server certification in the first 6 months of hire date.
May be required to drive vehicle if needed to perform tasks at Fort Irwin, CA. Must have a valid Driver's License.
Pay Range
$95,000 - $114,000
