Department Overview

Our care traffic control center (CTCC) is at the heart of the Children’s Minnesota organization overseeing the operations of each hospital dispersed between three campuses. Our staff includes dedicated hospital nursing supervisors and staffing office personnel who work closely together as we continuously monitor each hospital’s unit activity and staffing needs while maintaining the organizational core value of putting “kids first.” The CTCC department provides a distinctive opportunity for team members to lead through collaboration with each unit in prioritizing patient flow, triaging operational issues or clinical staffing areas of concern, and organizing overall daily staffing resources within one of the largest pediatric health systems in the United States. Position Summary

The Manager - Care Traffic Control and Access (CTCC) has the overall responsibility for aligning daily staffing resources with patient requirements for patient care units on the St. Paul and Minneapolis hospital campuses in partnership with patient care units. This individual supports the directors, patient care managers (PCMs), and patient care supervisors (PCSs) of patient care units in managing, planning, monitoring, and addressing daily staffing concerns and in identifying opportunities for future adjustments at the unit level. This individual support and directs the SMCs in their responsibilities associated with developing, adjusting, and posting schedules which meet the needs of the patient care areas and are compliant with union contracts for which they are assigned. The manager is responsible for assuring the development and use of standard tools and processes to support schedule build and management, time card reconciliations, and tracking staffing trends.

The individual ensures a rigorous system to track and report data for use by the organization and units to plan and address staffing related concerns, make informed decisions regarding positions, budget, and operations. Due to 24/7 operations, position may participate in various schedules to include on call, day, evening, night and/or weekend rotation or coverage.

The Manager Staffing and Scheduling reports directly to the Sr. Director of Clinical Operations. This position manages the Resource Management Coordinators (RMCs) and Schedule Management Coordinators (SMCs). The Manager - Staffing and Scheduling Services works with patient care leaders to align the work of the SMCs and meet unit expectations.

Location - Hybrid based on department and organizational needs. When onsite, generally on St. Paul campus.
