Job Description:
As the Director of Forensic Meteorology, you will lead our hybrid-remote research and operations team of scientists and meteorologists who build and provide oversight for forensic weather algorithms used by the insurance industry to validate insurance claims. You will oversee the delivery of high-quality reports and analysis, ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices. At the same time you will take ownership of thinking about how to build a set of market leading products for the key industry verticals that CoreLogic serves.
Job Responsibilities: Manage a team of atmospheric scientists and forensic meteorologists, providing leadership, guidance, and mentorship to ensure the highest level of expertise and professionalism. Oversee the development and execution of post-event weather modeling and forensic analyses that support insurance claims, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and adherence to deadlines. Collaborate with product, insurance carriers, and corporate clients to understand their specific weather-related needs and provide tailored solutions. Conduct quality assurance reviews of reports and analyses produced by the team, ensuring compliance with company standards and client expectations. Stay updated on advances in meteorological science, techniques, and tools to continually enhance service offerings and maintain a competitive edge in the industry. Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources effectively to ensure efficient delivery of services and achievement of client satisfaction. Represent the company at industry conferences, seminars, and other professional events to promote our expertise and network with potential clients and partners.
Job Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, or a related field; Master's or PhD preferred. 10+ years of weather experience, with strong understanding of weather data types, sources, availability, etc. 5+ years of previous management or leadership experience, with a proven track record of effectively leading teams and managing complex projects. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex meteorological concepts and findings clearly and concisely to a non- technical audience to include to public speaking (webinars, client presentations, workshops & trade events). Excellent leadership and listening skills- which can be leveraged to inspire and motivate a team Expertise in utilizing meteorological software and tools for data analysis and visualization (e.g., GIS software). Ability to context switch between R&D, operations, and BU needs Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy Demonstrated passion for severe weather events a significant plus
