Your key responsibilities

You will support both the delivery of high-quality services to our clients, and the development of our climate risk solutions. Using your experience of climate risk modeling, your quantitative skills and your attention to detail, you will:

• Provide clients across multiple sectors with strategic, technical, and reporting expertise, including quantitative and qualitative climate risk analysis and recommendations

• Work with EY teams across service lines and geographies to refine our capabilities in modeling physical and transition risk, including sector-specific analysis and links to mitigation actions

• Serve as a subject matter expert to peer review deliverables and support business development

• Collaborate with partners, senior managers, and clients to inform our strategy

• Liaise with external partners to leverage their skills and data for exceptional client service

• Provide management, mentoring and training for more junior staff

To qualify for the role you must have

• A bachelor’s degree or master's degree in engineering, Statistics, Climate Science, Physics, Environmental Economics or related discipline, and 3+ years of relevant experience

• Experience with climate risk modeling, climate risk scenario analysis, covering physical and transition risk, and climate adaptation and mitigation

• Experience with using climate change model data (IPCC, IAMs, GCMs) for decision support and cost/benefit assessments

• Strong quantitative skills, with qualifications or experience in engineering, economics, physics or similar fields

• Strong technical writing skills and advanced risk management knowledge

• Skill and experience in explaining technical aspects of climate change impact assessments and modeling to non-experts

• A deep understanding of the marketplace, as well as commonly used terminology, processes, and tools

• Consulting mindset with the ability to solve complex client problems through research and data analysis, synthesize into key insights to frame executive decisions, and communicate to senior leaders

• Experience leading research projects and the ability to diagnose challenges and propose solutions with limited guidance.

• Project management excellence: The ability to coordinate multiple workstreams to produce high-quality deliverables, navigate client relationships, and foster a high-performance teaming culture

• The confidence to research and resolve emerging client issues, including regulations, industry practices, and new technologies

• Proficient Microsoft Excel, PowerBI and econometric modeling skills

• The ability and willingness to travel and work in excess of standard hours when necessary

• Access to reliable transportation to/from the EY office and client sites. A driver's license is strongly recommended as ride share and public transportation options may not be available in all locations

Ideally you’ll also have

• Licensure or advance certifications as appropriate for your profession

• Sustainability experience with topics such as climate change megatrends, net-zero decarbonization strategies, GHG inventory plans, and data management, TCFD, climate disclosures, renewable energy, scope 3 supply chain decarbonization strategies, and carbon offsets/markets

• External consulting experience within a large professional firm

• Expertise and comfort working across multiple sectors (i.e., emissions management, decarbonization, or climate risk)

• Experience in programming languages such as SQL, Python, R and/or TAS

• Experience working with spatial data (i.e. vector or raster data outside of ArcGIS programs).

What we offer

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $96,300 to $176,500. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $115,500 to $200,600. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances. You’ll also be granted time off for designated EY Paid Holidays, Winter/Summer breaks, Personal/Family Care, and other leaves of absence when needed to support your physical, financial, and emotional well-being.
