Brief Summary of Work for this PositionThe Disability Learning Specialist is responsible for: implementation of administrative policies and procedures; development of program reports/proposals; providing support to registered students, and serving as an advocate for equal access; providing accommodations as indicated by approved documentation; consulting with other university offices; and performing all other relevant duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience RequirementsMaster's degree or Bachelors degree in education, counseling, social work, or related field and a combination of education and professional training and experience is required.Minimum of one year experience working with individuals with disabilities.Experience in reviewing medical, psychological, educational, and other appropriate documentation to determine students' eligibility for accommodations.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Masters degree in education, counseling, social work, or related field.Possess a strong interpersonal, oral, and written skills.Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, campus departments, and student groups.Experience presenting to broad groups possibly to include students, student organizations, faculty, staff or others.Ability to manage and maintain records and databases to track, compile and interpret data.Experience with disability law, including Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and experience applying this understanding in a college context.
