Summary:
Responsible for the oversight of the day-to-day responsibilities of the department. The primary functions of the position include program oversight, assistance to the Quality Director Director, Quality/Patient Safety for program development, supervision and evaluation of staff performance, development of policy and procedure, and achievement of operational goals established for the Quality Department. Responsible for Patient Relations and Patient Safety Department.
Responsibilities:
Supervises quality staff and oversees daily operations of the department. Utilizes process improvement strategies to conduct analysis of data and in collaboration with department/unit and organizational leadership. Promotes processes that increase high reliability, patient safety, quality, efficiency and patient satisfaction.
Supervises and participates in the investigation of adverse events and reports related information to the Director of Quality and the Director of Risk Management.
Collaborates with physicians, nurses and clinical areas in applying High Reliability Principles and utilizes project management skills to facilitate improvements that have positive impact on patient safety.
Oversees the physician peer review process. Collaborates with Peer Review partners during the Peer Review Process, ensuring appropriate case referral and thorough review of patient care.
Functions as an expert resource for interpreting and ensuring adherence to all Joint Commission, State and Federal standards, and provides ongoing education to departments related to regulatory compliance.
Supervises and conducts reviews of patient grievances and collaborates with Risk/Patient Advocacy to identify issues and opportunities for improvement.
Conducts root cause analyses, common cause analyses, and risk assessments utilizing High Reliability methods to identify system issues and assist department/unit leadership with development of process improvements.
Develops and reviews policy and/or procedure related to the quality department.
Assists departments/units with analyzing Patient Satisfaction/HCAHPS data and partners with leadership to develop strategies to improve patient satisfaction.
Oversees the CMS/Joint Commission Public Performance measures programs for Danbury Hospital/Norwalk Hospital. Analyzes and interprets data to identify opportunities for improvement. Drives related initiatives to ensure requirements and implemented and improved standards and outcomes are achieved.
Conducts ongoing and annual performance reviews.
Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: BACHELOR'S DEGREE required
Other Information:
Required: Clinical expertise, excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills.
Minimum Experience: five years
Desired: Management experience.
Working Conditions:
Manual: significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity
