Within CSU , the Division of University Advancement is integral to achieving and sustaining the University’s institutional excellence through fundraising and engagement efforts. Within University Advancement, the Talent & HR team contributes significantly by managing and developing the division’s most valuable resource – its people. The mission of Talent & HR is to recruit, hire, and develop a high-performing, engaged staff with the competencies and skills needed to achieve the University’s ever-increasing fundraising and constituency engagement goals.

Position Summary

The University Advancement Division seeks to fill a Talent Acquisition Specialist position. This position serves to provide comprehensive recruiting and search functions in support of the overall strategic mission of University Advancement. The successful candidate will possess the ability to respond to talent needs, design and implement employer branding strategies, drive the recruitment and selection processes, and establish a strong recruiting pipeline.

The Talent Acquisition Specialist will have the ability to streamline existing HR functions and ensure complex programs and processes are clear throughout the division. This position will also have responsibility for coordinating searches across the division and utilizing our applicant tracking system ( TMS ) to assist in the search process. This person should have an affinity for effective processes, a commitment to customer service and the candidate experience, and an ability to align skill sets with organizational needs. The Talent Acquisition Specialist will report to the Associate Director of Talent & HR. This person will infuse diversity, and inclusion into all aspects of their role to contribute to inclusive excellence and to ensure colleagues and candidates of all backgrounds feel represented and included.

Required Job Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, liberal arts, marketing, communications, or related field

A minimum of 1 year of experience in Human Resources, Talent Management, or Recruiting as a primary responsibility or a minimum of 2 years of experience in Human Resources, Talent Management, or Recruiting as a secondary responsibility.

A demonstrated ability to engage and effectively communicate with diverse audiences

Ability and willingness to travel during nonstandard hours including mornings and/or weekends

Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date

Preferred Job Qualifications

Recruiting experience and interviewing skills, including the ability to actively listen, analyze answers, and ask appropriate follow-up/clarifying questions

Previous experience using an Applicant Tracking System (PeopleAdmin, Workday, Taleo, etc.) and/or scheduling candidate interviews, posting job advertisements, and coordinating the candidate search process

SHRM -CP or PHR Certification

Proven ability to be detail-minded and highly organized with experience tracking multiple projects and competing priorities

Proven familiarity with higher education, fundraising/outside sales, and/or large-scale non-profit organizations

An affinity for developing people, an ability to align skillsets with organizational needs, and an ability to inspire and motivate passive employment seekers, with a persuasive personality

Energetic, comfortable in professional, social settings while attending networking events on behalf of University Advancement

Strong written and verbal communication skills, exemplary customer service skills, and a proven ability to work successfully with multiple stakeholder groups and diverse populations

Demonstrated ability working with Microsoft Office Suite and an aptitude for quickly learning new technology

Develops and implements recruitment plans for maximizing applicant flow.

Utilizes proven industry methods to seek both active and passive employment seekers.

Cultivates a robust talent pool of interested, qualified and high potential candidates for University Advancement positions.

Develops creative outreach strategies to attract candidates; uses social networking and marketing as well as other recruiting strategies.

Develops and enhances capabilities with hiring authorities and search committees related to effective hiring practices and unconscious bias mitigation.

Builds strong talent brand/image for CSU /University Advancement by attending recruitment events, serving on boards, and liaising with area employment agencies, industry associations, etc.

Acting on effective position marketing strategies and utilizing various job advertising mechanisms, advertises all University Advancement openings to national job sites, niche markets, industry websites and external preferred list serves, etc.

Develops content and manages the University Advancement-specific LinkedIn pages to further recruitment goals

On behalf of University Advancement, travels to recruitment events, industry events, etc. in order to network and garner interest in current and future positions using effective recruitment methods.

Screens potential applicants, assesses their background to determine positions of best compatibility, and encourages applicants to apply for positions that suit their interests.

Presents opportunities to applicants, acts on various talent leads, and sells candidates on the benefits of working in UA and CSU .

Works with the team to improve recruitment and support of candidates from marginalized populations.

Coordinates short and long-term sourcing strategies, provides input into recruitment and retention plans; analyzes the effectiveness of recruiting strategies and impact on overall retention.

Creates a network of talent and a streamlined approach to recruiting in central/de-central units.

Regularly communicates with search chair and hiring authority on recruiting status for all openings, anticipates concerns and acts accordingly.

Creates, writes, designs and edits written communication where attention to detail and excellent grammar are crucial, including candidate correspondence, emails, thank you letters, offer letters, as well as position advertisements.

Manages, tracks, and allocates expenses for a small individual budget for projects assigned, with responsibilities to make recommendation for additional resource needs.

Directs the work of search support partners and hiring committee members, and acts as a resource for student interns.

Supports array of on-boarding and off-boarding initiatives.

Utilizes inclusive excellence and cultural competency to consider how communications, materials, and interactions are inclusive and welcoming for employees, applicants, and candidates of all backgrounds.

Consistently works toward education and growth on topics of diversity, equity, and inclusion to elevate incorporation of inclusive excellence into the position and to the division.

Maintains a thorough and up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and complies with them in all work activities.

Maintains applicant tracking system and recruiting lifecycle to include requisition generation, interview coordination, offer letter generation, and on-boarding paperwork.

With oversight from the Associate Director of Talent & HR, responsible for utilizing online talent management system to submit position postings for review and approval.

Utilizing applicant manager, hiring authority, or initiator roles within TMS , reviews transactions, moves applicants through the workflow, creates hiring proposals, and submits final candidates to OEO for approval as required.

Manages the candidate offer process and portions of the onboarding process, to include drafting and coordinating offer letter and pre-employment screenings, scheduling and completing onboarding paperwork, triggering and following up on necessary onboarding actions for the Hiring Authority, and all associated TMS and Oracle actions.
