Requirements of the Food Services Director:
Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or GED
Must graduate from an accredited course in dietetic training approved by the ADA
Must possess a Food Service Sanitation (serv safe) certification
Culinary or Hospitality Degree Preferred
CDM Certification Required
Must have, as a minimum, three (3) years experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other related medical facility
Must be knowledgeable of dietary practices and procedutres, as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing dietary functions in a nursing care facility
Must have training in cost control, food management, diet therapy, etc.
Must be registered as a Food Service Director in this state.
Must successfully complete a post offer, pre-employment criminal background check and physical / drug screen.
Responsibilities of the Food Services Director:
Plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operation of the Dietary Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing our Facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator
Assure that our Facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner
Make weekly inspections of all dietary functions to assure that quality control measures are continually maintained
Assist the Dietary staff as well as assume responsibility and accountability of directing the dietary department
Coordinate dietary services and activities with other related departments (Nursing, Activities, Housekeeping, etc)
Submit accident and incident reports within 24 hours
Inspect all dietary areas for upkeep and supply control
Participate in survey's and inspections
Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
Provide exceptional hospitality and communication to our residents, family members, guests and team members.
Responsible for carrying out Dining Services practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations and guidelines governing dining services functions in nursing care facilities.
Work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
Maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and maintain the appearance of dining services areas; must perform regular inspections of dining service areas for sanitation, order, safety and proper performance of assigned duties.
Seek out new methods and principles and incorporate them into existing dining services practices.
Read and interpret Dining Services cost reports, financial data, etc.
Relate information concerning a resident’s condition.
