HOW YOU'LL MAKE AN IMPACT:
20% Creative ConceptShop the market (competitive and aspirational) researching trends, product, prints, fabrics and color to inspire a compelling product assortment.Partner with design leaders to build mood boards and trend books for creative concept presentations.Collaborate with design team to create new silhouettes, inspire color and art and develop fabrics and trims.Concept, sketch and request design samples.50% Product line Development
Lead design of 40-50% the Carter's Baby Seasonal line as needed and as workload allows.Work with Design, Art, Product Development and Merchandising teams to create designs that are both innovative and brand right.Manage Flex PLM linesheets, uploading colorway images, inputting SC numbers and adding product change comments.Create and manage flat sketches, SC cards and communication with Technical Design team.Manage organization and storage of Design's purchased samples and mood boards.Proficiently discuss product categories and deliveries at both style and program level.Responsible for achieving calendar deliverables and deadlines for all stages of design.40% Design Process & Communication
Communicate and execute design intent from initial concept to final development of product.Participate in all aspects of daily follow up with internal business partner, i.e. email communication and meetingsReview pre-production art (review prints, graphic scale & placements, validate color chips and line sheets and own complete process for their portion of the line)Responsible for maintaining all product details throughout design review process that impact final execution of product commercialization; communicate changes with tech, merchant, sourcing and production teams.Participate in fittings providing design intent feedback and follow up with necessary changes.Train Assistants and Interns on design fundamentals, systems and processes, flat sketching in Illustrator, line sheet and PLM responsibilitiesAssist with new hire on boarding.Responsible for achieving calendar deadlines for all stages of design.WE'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF:Must have:
BA or BFA required, preferably in apparel design2-5 years of design experienceExhibit inquisitiveness, excellent communication and analytical skillsPossess strong attention to detail and good organizational skillsStrong time management and creative problem-solving skillsBe able to balance multiple responsibilities independentlyAbility to work in a fast paced, creative, and team-oriented environmentUnderstand the flow of the calendarExceptional Mac skills: Adobe IllustratorPreferred skills and experience:
Working knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tool preferredExperience in Children's ApparelOUR TEAM MEMBERS:
