Responsibilities
The Director Perioperative Services will lead the clinical and administrative functions of the surgical services department at Providence Hospital which includes Operating Rooms, Pre and Post-Operative departments, Pre-admission Testing and Sterile Processing. The Director Perioperative Services implements and evaluates policies and procedures, personnel management, regulatory compliance, operating and capital budgets, quality assurance and performance improvement, and ongoing success of the department; ensures that quality care is provided to patients and that their team is competent and confident to provide top clinical care and service; responsible for quality of care, volume targets, employee retention, productivity, and all departmental metrics for Perioperative Services departments; active member on hospital committees; meets the strategic growth goals set forth as the academic medical center and referral center for South Alabama; collaborates with and builds strong, effective partnerships with physician stakeholders and the academic training areas for USA Health; identifies, analyzes, and implements effective strategies to address volume opportunities and ensure ongoing stability of existing business and strategic partnerships; in partnership with hospital executive leadership, monitors the local market for trends, opportunities, threats, etc. related to business development and formulates recommendations to mitigate risk; develops and implements effective processes and procedures to ensure high-quality clinical outcomes and high-quality patient/employee/physician experience; coordinates and establishes nursing care practices; uses selected nursing practice theory as a framework for coordinating patient care and by providing theory-based nursing practice information in unusual or complex patient care situations.; projects staffing needs, interviews, and hires employees to fill vacant positions; resolves staffing issues; monitors and develops ways to improve throughput and efficient use of resources in the Perioperative Services areas in concert with the other Perioperative Serices leaders in the system; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; related duties as required.
Qualifications
Graduation an accredited school of nursing meeting the minimum standards set by the state of Alabama, five years of perioperative management experience, and licensure with the state of Alabama as a registered nurse. Bachelor Degree Required, Masters preferred.
