We are seeking a dynamic and motivated PM Controls Specialist to join our project management team. This entry-level position will play a crucial role in supporting higher-level Project Managers (PMs) by managing day-to-day project controls activities, such as schedules, budgets, actual costs, contracting, and reporting. The PM Controls Specialist will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth execution of projects, allowing senior PMs to focus on strategic interactions with technical leads, customers, and stakeholders. This role will encompass a variety of responsibilities, including research, tool implementation, project scheduling, reporting, and overall project support.

Work Location
The position will be based in the Chicagoland area at the GTI Energy Headquarters. We offer a hybrid/core work week, where employees are remote Mondays and Fridays, and required to be on-site Tuesday through Thursday.
Primary Responsibilities
Manage project scheduling and reporting duties for designated projects as needed, ensuring accurate and timely updates to project plans and status reports.Collaborate with higher-level PMs to maintain project schedules, budgets, and documentation, allowing them to focus on strategic initiatives.Support the execution of RD&D (Research, Development, and Design) projects by contributing to project plans, budgets, and schedules.Communicate effectively with project teams to gather and provide essential information that contributes to project success, including scope management, budget adherence, and schedule compliance.Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to incorporate technical and analytical insights into project plans and decision-making processes.Organize and summarize project status data to keep team members and stakeholders informed of progress, challenges, and achievements.Utilize appropriate project management tools, such as MS Project, to complete tasks efficiently and accurately.Participate in project planning discussions, offering input and insights based on current project factors and requirements.Adhere to all health and safety policies and practices, contributing to a secure and productive work environment.Perform other duties as assigned.Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with an aptitude for learning and understanding technical concepts.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with cross-functional teams and stakeholders effectively.Proficiency in using project management tools and software, such as MS Project and Planner, Excel, and other relevant applications.Organizational skills with an attention to detail to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.Collaborative and team-oriented mindset, with the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.Eagerness to learn, adapt, and grow within a dynamic project management team.Knowledge of project controls principles and practices is a plus, but not mandatory.Passion for contributing to the successful execution of projects and driving project management excellence.Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in an engineering or science-related field, preferably from an ABET/EAC-accredited program institution or university.5+ years of relevant, professional-level work experience after a B.S.3+ years of relevant, professional-level experience after a M.S.0 years of relevant, professional-level experience after a Ph.D.Graduate-level research may qualify as relevant work experience
Pay Transparency
The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $100,000 USD annually. This salary range is GTI Energy’s good faith estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, GTI Energy’s business or organizational needs and an individual’s relevant experience, education, qualifications, certifications, skills, seniority, geographic location, and/or performance. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus. The range listed is just one component of GTI Energy’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, paid time off, and region-specific benefits.
