This position has working hours of 1:30pm - 10:00pm M-F

What You Can Expect as an IT Support Specialist at West Star:

This position is responsible for designing and developing desktop environments that maximize productivity, reliability, and security for West Star employees. IT Support Specialists will also install and upgrade software, install hardware, implement file backups, configure systems and applications, and perform preventative maintenance tasks such as installing service packs, patches, hot fixes, and antivirus software.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Support:

Provide first-level support to employees, resolving hardware, software, and network-related issues through various channels (in-person, phone, email, or remote access). Troubleshooting:

Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and other peripherals. Address software malfunctions, network connectivity problems, and system performance issues. User Account Management:

Assist with user account creation, password resets, and access permissions in various systems and applications. Software Installation and Updates:

Install, configure, and update software applications on user devices. Ensure all systems are up-to-date with the latest security patches and software versions. Hardware Setup and Maintenance:

Set up new workstations, including the installation of operating systems, software, and hardware components. Perform regular maintenance on existing equipment to ensure optimal performance. IT Asset Management:

Track and manage IT assets, including inventory control, equipment deployment, and decommissioning. Documentation:

Maintain accurate records of support requests, resolutions, and other IT-related documentation. Create and update user guides and technical documentation as needed. Training and Support:

Provide training to end-users on new software and hardware, ensuring they are comfortable and proficient in their use. Incident Management:

Log and prioritize support requests, escalating complex issues to higher-level support or specialized teams when necessary. Security and Compliance:

Assist in maintaining the security of IT systems by enforcing security protocols, monitoring for suspicious activity, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies. What You'll Need to Bring with You:

Education:

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred. Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional) are a plus. Experience:

Minimum of 2 years of experience in an IT support role or similar position. Initiative:

Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities. Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues in a non-technical manner. Patience and empathy when dealing with end-users. Ability to manage time effectively and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Sense of Responsibility:

Attend work every day as scheduled. Notify supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work. Must have reliable transportation to get to work each day. Follow all company and safety rules during the performance of duties. Maintain customer-oriented work habits.

Other Particulars:

Physical Requirements:

Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Routine walking, bending, stooping, squatting, and sitting. Sit at a desk and/or computer for extended intervals. Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed indoors and outdoors in airplane hangars. Will be required to move computers/equipment as needed.
