The College of Arts & Sciences is a multi-faceted, fast-paced organization, overseeing more than 40 academic departments, centers, and programs. The College of Arts and Sciences Dean's office is looking for a highly motivated, self-directed individual to be part of the A&S Dean's office administrative/HR team, committed to providing support to the departments and their academic mission.
This position will work with the Sr Academic Operations Officer and the Strategic Support Manager to administer the integrated human resources activities and programs of our large and diverse staffing structure. This position will be part of the HR team that is responsible for reviewing UNMJobs actions for faculty and staff postings and hires as well as providing training on UNMJobs processes and activities to the units as needed. This position will allow opportunities for professional growth and development.
1.Responsible for communicating employment requests and approvals for both faculty and staff.
2.Provide backup department administrator and/or unit administrator duties to the units as needed.
3.Provide direct administrative assistance to programs/units who do not have administrative support
4.Secondary backup to Dean's office Academic Coordinator for TA/GA/RA assistantships and Graduate Student Excellence Assistantships
5.Provide backup to Dean's office Program Planning Officer on UNMJobs PTI hiring

Conditions of EmploymentEmployees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.If located at the UNM Children's Campus, successful candidate must pass a comprehensive post-offer, pre-employment criminal and New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD) fingerprint background check, and a continued successful status will be verified by periodic future background checks.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED;at least 2 years of experience managing at least one of the following functional areas: fiscal services, administration and/or human resources AND 3 years of additional experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
•Excellent customer service skills and professional demeanor
•Proficient written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills
•Strong ability to multi-task and efficiently manage competing priorities.
•Experience using UNMJobs or analogous large-university system for all aspects of hiring of faculty, staff, and students (undergraduate and graduate) and understanding management policies in these areas
•Demonstrated experience working in Human Resources related position, including recruitment, compensation, and labor relations
•Demonstrated experience with Banner, MyReports, HRreports, EPAF's, EPANs, NSPs, and all other HR related actions
•Demonstrated experience in the application of employment policies and law at the university, state, and federal level in the areas of compensation, recruiting and hiring.
•Demonstrated experience working in UNM recruitment and hiring processes for faculty, staff, and students
