Under general supervision, carries out a variety of front-desk services related to cash collection and serves as a receptionist.Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Registers patients presenting for treatment; enters all biographic and insurance information into computer system.Obtains a copy of patients' Medicaid/Medicaid HMO card and verifies and updates information as needed; ensures that the designated insurance co-payment is collected before patient is seen by student.Responsible for the collection and posting of patients' payments.Responds with good customer service to patient inquiries or transfers, as appropriate, to a financial coordinator.Prepares and balances receipts daily for the bank deposits.Responsible for requesting charts for next day and ensuring that they are received.Calls patients with scheduling recall reminders and advises them as needed to make payments; arranges for scheduling with financial coordinator if required.

Minimum Education and Experience
Three (3) years of experience in physician, hospital or health center billing setting, including management of various types of insurance billing processes.
Certifications/LicensesRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) skills.Knowledge of medical terminology.Must be familiar with the billing practices of Medicaid and Medicare.Requires working with office equipment and confidential patient records and correspondence.Required to proofread and check documents for accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates having experience working in a Federally Qualified Health Center a plus.

Standing, walking, bending and talking.Must be able to lift and move supply boxes, 10 pounds.
Work Environment:
Clinic and office operations.Moderate noise.
