BASIS Ed is looking for a Regional Director of Compliance to support our Texas and Arkansas schools.
This position requires being on-site in San Antonio, Texas and will be reporting to the Vice President of Compliance Services.

BASIS Ed is an educational management organization that provides comprehensive management services to all BASIS Charter Schools. We provide centralized support services to our schools. These services include human resources, finance and accounting, marketing, operations, and IT. In addition, we oversee, implement and manage the BASIS Charter School Curriculum and its related assessments and training processes. With our support, BASIS Charter Schools achieve consistently outstanding student outcomes.
Job Summary:
Within the national network-wide Compliance Services organization, the Regional Director of Compliance is primarily responsible for compliance efforts in Texas and Arkansas, as well as project-based compliance initiatives in other regions. The Regional Director is responsible for ensuring that the BASIS Texas Charter Schools district and the Schools for Advanced Studies adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations. This role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring policies and procedures to ensure the schools operate within the legal framework. The Regional Director will work closely with school administrators, staff, and external agencies as needed. The Regional Director of Compliance will advise school administrators, school management personnel, and staff in other departments regarding compliance with applicable laws and regulations specific to the region.
Key Responsibilities:Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies, including those related to education, safety, and employment.Policy Development: Develop, implement, and update policies and procedures.Training and Education: Provide training and resources to staff on compliance-related topics.Monitoring and Auditing: Assist departments undergoing fiscal monitoring or audits related to policies and legal requirements.Reporting: Prepare and submit compliance reports to regulatory agencies as applicable and the school board on a quarterly basis.Risk Management: Identify and advise stakeholders regarding strategies to mitigate compliance risks through proactive measures and continuous monitoring.Documentation: Maintain accurate records of compliance activities and ensure documentation is up-to-date and accessible.Advisory Role: Advise stakeholders on compliance matters and recommend improvements to policies and procedures.State Reporting: Support and supervise PEIMS manager or other state reporting specialist for the region as needed.Grants: Work with Grants Compliance Specialist to ensure programmatic compliance with state and federal grant requirements across the network.Investigations: Assist Equity Services and School Management Services as needed in investigations, including coaching and advising school staff, conducting remote and onsite interviews of students and staff, and observing onsite as needed.Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in education, law, public administration, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.Eligibility: Must be eligible to work in Texas schools and have or be able to obtain appropriate fingerprint background check prior to employment.Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a compliance role, preferably within an educational setting. Experience managing people and projects, direct supervisory experience preferred.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
The successful candidate will possess a thorough understanding of the nature and structure of federal, state, and local laws, regulations, case law, and agency requirements, including an understanding of legislative processes and agency rulemaking processes.Demonstrated ability to quickly and effectively research and analyze compliance questions within the Texas statutory and regulatory frameworks.Understanding of education laws and regulations preferred, including Texas Education Code and Title 19 of the Texas Administrative Code, Every Student Succeeds Act (ESEA), emphasizing Title I-IV, Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, Title IX, Title VI, FERPA, McKinney-Vento.The successful candidate will be an experienced professional with polished workplace skills.Highly organized and able to effectively prioritize a variety of projects and tasks.Thorough, analytical, and decisive.Excellent communication, including well-developed, mature writing skills.The successful candidate will show strong commitment to the BASIS Ed mission and good judgement.Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.Ability to remain calm and poised when confronted with sensitive or difficult situations.Proactive and detail-oriented approach to problem-solving.Ability to work independently with little supervision and take ownership of projects to facilitate positive outcomes.Ability to determine when to provide guidance to support stakeholders' independent actions versus when decisive actions should be taken by Compliance.Commitment to fostering a culture of compliance and ethical behavior.Position Information:
