Sabathani Community Center (SCC) is a 58-year-old African American institution and nonprofit serving a multi-cultural community of 50,000 community members in South Minneapolis. SCC was founded in 1966 by a handful of concerned community members seeking to address social and economic disparities in underserved communities in the areas of youth programming, housing, health and education. Wages & Benefits
$70,000 - $90,000 annual salary; generous paid time off (PTO), plus 11 paid holidays and two floating holidays; competitive health, dental, and vision insurance; Health Savings Account (HSA), and options for Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA). There is employer paid basic life insurance with the option for additional coverage paid by the employee. The employer pays for Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) and short- and long-term disability insurance. SCC sponsors a retirement plan with 4% employer match and immediate vesting.
A Typical Day in the Life...
A typical day as Sabathani's Director of Health Equity provides an opportunity provide department-wide leadership and coordination for the implementation of the organization's Health & Wellness Plan, which will be focused on eliminating health disparities, especially in the black community. Responsibilities will include the following:Establishing a culture of high performance, collaboration, innovation, and commitment to delivering measurable health equity outcomes.Providing oversight and serving as the primary point of contact for the organization's Health Equity Dept. and managing the performance of Health Equity staff.Encouraging next-level leadership by hiring top talent and mentoring staff accountabilities; setting objectives; establishing priorities; and monitoring and evaluating results.Providing leadership and advocating for the development of programs to increase public awareness and address health disparities in South Minneapolis.Identifying, assessing, and prioritizing areas for program sustainability efforts and recommending strategies for proactively addressing significant health equity issues.Working closely with the Communication Coordinator to build relationships with stakeholders and collaborating on the coordination, development, and implementation of procedures and services to identify and eliminate health disparities.Serving as the organization's spokesperson on topics directed by the CEO.Directing the coordination and communication of proposed health initiatives with program staff and stakeholders in the community, insurance providers, public health service providers, and other entities.Directing financial management, personnel management, grant administration, procurement, contracting, and other administrative support services to support operations.Leading and executing the implementation of new initiatives at Sabathani.Programing Strategic Initiatives while building effective partnerships with external organizations to develop a comprehensive plan for impacted participants.Identifying, assessing, and prioritizing areas for program sustainability efforts and recommending strategies for proactively addressing significant health equity issues.Researching and identifying developmental grant funding opportunities in support of the all-inclusive health equity operation.Developing methodologies/metrics for evaluating the viability and effectiveness of Health Equity initiatives.Who You Are
You have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field or have gained demonstrably equivalent knowledge through alternative courses of study in health-related fields and life experience.You have at least seven years of work experience in an administrative or management health role.You have experience working in a nonprofit setting (preferred).You have experience in project management, change management, marketing and communications, development, research, health equity, diversity and inclusion, or academia (preferred).You are passionate about working with the African American population.Your verbal, nonverbal, and written communication skills are excellent.You possess strong leadership and supervisory abilities.You can make sound decisions regarding building operations and expenditures.You can prioritize tasks and delegate appropriately.You are proficient in Microsoft suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.You are knowledgeable about web-based meeting platforms (Zoom, Teams) and have experience with database management systems (Salesforce).You hold a valid driver's license, have access to reliable transportation, and can meet Sabathani's driving record requirements.
