Reporting to the Director of Collections, the Manager of Collections will lead all aspects of the Firm's revenue and cash collections for their assigned partners with a goal of ensuring timely revenue realization for the Firm. This role requires a proactive approach to managing client accounts, billing attorneys and direct reports. Core management responsibilities will include commitment to excellence as demonstrated through continuous staff development, coaching and training, and assessment of talent and skills. Incumbent will identify areas of efficiencies and process improvement, including opportunities to leverage technology to eliminate manual processes and increase effectiveness of team.
What You Will Do:Lead and motivate team, providing coaching, feedback and supervision as needed. Set clear goals and direction for the team to facilitate achievement of the Firm's revenue goals.Continuously evaluate areas of potential improvement to drive efficiencies.Interact with billing attorneys and secretaries regarding all aspects of collection services and procedures, including responding to a high volume of requests relating to collection inquiries and reporting. Communicate with Finance leadership on any accounts or areas requiring escalation.Ensure professional relationships are established and maintained with clients and attorneys.Reconcile client accounts as needed and provide analyses when necessary.Collaborate with fellow managers to prepare regular reports on collections activities, trends and forecasting for management.Play an active role in identifying and evaluating new technologies, such as a new collections platform.Exhibit flexibility and willingness to take on new responsibilities and assignments as they are identified and to assist with various ad hoc projects based on Firm needs.Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in collections management.Who You Are:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent.Minimum of 5-10 years of related financial management (particular in billing and collections) experience in a professional service organization, law firm experience preferred.Demonstrate advanced knowledge of financial management and business intelligence systems such as Aderant Expert, ARCS 2G, and/or various electronic billing platforms.Team-oriented, proactive thinker with excellent leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Strong communicator with excellent organizational, interpersonal and customer service skills.Ability to manage an employee base spanning multiple geographic locations, and time zones. Including onsite and remote employees.Manage multiple assignments simultaneously and work in high stress situations.Must thrive in a rapid-paced and dynamic business environment with a willingness to travel as necessary.Excellent computer skills with proficiency in spreadsheet software applications.Demonstrate advanced knowledge of financial management and business intelligence systems such as Aderant Expert, ARCS 2G, and/or various electronic billing platforms.#LI-MS1
