JOB SUMMARY:
The Development Director manages and executes Calvary's development strategy, with the goal of growing Calvary's annual revenue from diverse funding sources. The position has primary responsibility for strategies and activities related to donor relations and events.
The Development Director is an integral part of the Development Team, reports to the Chief Development Officer, and works closely with all teams at the organization to coordinate fundraising and related projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Donor StewardshipDevelop strategies for expanding Calvary's donor base, with a focus on building relationships with high-net-worth individualsDevelop and maintain a portfolio of donors and prospects, and solicit and secure support from individuals and corporationsIdentify, cultivate, and deliver gifts from a diverse base of supporters, engaging prospective, new, lapsed, and current donors at all giving levelsPlan and execute annual cultivation and stewardship events, including thank you events, introductory events, open houses and program toursLead a moves management process and create personalized stewardship plans for donors identified by prospect research, as appropriateCreate and publicize opportunities for donors and prospects to engage in a sustainer program, matching gift programs, community events, and moreCreate strategy for and write or guide content creation for four appeals annuallyPlan and execute online campaigns, including an annual sustainer campaignSpecial Events
Develop concepts for, lead the design of, and execute special events, including the annual Hope GalaOversee planning and execution of fundraising events, including gala, silent auction, fundraising walk and community engagement activitiesImplement a sustainable volunteer structure that utilizes existing relationships and recruits new volunteers to execute events and drive revenueWork closely with the Board of Directors, volunteers, staff and external vendors to ensure the execution of engagement and fundraising eventsStaff events and coordinate volunteers and other event participantsData Management
Supervise all data management, ensuring the Development Associate maintains the database and data entry for financial, in-kind and volunteer contributionsContribute to monthly team reports, prepare the monthly fundraising download for the accounting team, and assist other staff with fundraising reportsOversee the data management planDelegate tasks and projects to team members, ensuring efficient execution of development activitiesSupervise consultants who work on events, data, or other projects related to donorsSupervision and Leadership
Lead, mentor, and manage the Development Manager and Development Associate and ensure alignment with fundraising goals and professional developmentOversee the data management planDelegate tasks and projects to team members, ensuring efficient execution of development activitiesSupervise consultants who work on events, data, or other projects related to donorsOther Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinate with the Communications Director to ensure consistency of messaging and themes across fundraising and communicationsCollaborate with the operations team and the Director of Volunteers and Community Engagement on a strategy for soliciting in-kind contributions from new and current donors including local businessesOffer support to appropriate interns and volunteersServe as a backup point of contact for donors and prospects through managing the general email box, answering the telephone and receiving mail to the organizationComplete weekly and monthly team checklists, weekly team report, and other internal communication toolsLead tours of the programs and speak in the community on behalf of Calvary Women's ServicesParticipate in all staff meetings and on-site staff trainingOther duties as assignedRequirements
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in fundraising, development or related fieldsExperience managing a fundraising team through effective goal setting, prioritization, delegation, and team-building.Effective leadership capabilities; able to mentor and coach team in area of responsibility and the achievement of fundraising goals.Proven ability to create and implement successful fundraising strategiesStrong relationship-building and communications skillsStrong leadership and management experienceSupervisory Experience with donor management software (CRM systems)Knowledge of financial planning and budget managementHave a team-oriented mindset and the ability to work independently without direct supervisionExcellent written and oral communication skillsStrong attention to detailProficiency in MS Office, particularly Word and ExcelEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in a related field or a minimum of 5-7 years relevant work experienceWORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Own transportation is required for trips out of the officeMove, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 30 pounds without assistance.Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.Climbing: Ascending or descending multiple flights of stairs, using feet and legs and/or hands and armsStand, sit, or walk for an extended periodBenefits include:
