System Administrator (Level 2) Job Description

Overview:

The Level 2 System Administrator (SA) provides essential support for implementing, troubleshooting, and maintaining Information Technology (IT) systems. This role involves managing IT infrastructure and related processes, handling daily operations, monitoring system performance, and resolving technical issues across various IT components, including client/server systems, storage, network devices, and mobile devices. The Level 2 SA also provides Tier 1 and Tier 2 support, diagnosing and resolving escalated issues while communicating with agency management and internal customers. This position is suited for an experienced IT professional who can optimize system operations and perform capacity analysis to improve system reliability and performance.

Responsibilities:Support the implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems, ensuring their availability and integrity.Manage the configuration and daily operation of IT systems, including monitoring and resolving issues with client/server/storage/network devices and mobile devices.Provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) support, identifying, diagnosing, and resolving technical problems.Assist users with accessing and utilizing IT systems, providing guidance and support as needed.Coordinate with other teams to resolve escalated issues, ensuring effective communication of status and progress to agency management and internal customers.Configure and manage UNIX and Windows operating systems, including installing/loading operating system software, troubleshooting, and maintaining system integrity.Optimize system performance, conduct system capacity analysis, and implement enhancements to improve reliability.Support the dispatch system and resolve hardware issues, remaining engaged throughout the resolution process.Provide detailed analysis and feedback on escalated issues to agency management and internal stakeholders.Maintain compliance with security protocols and ensure systems meet NSA and DoD standards for information security.Perform system integration tasks and support ongoing IT operations in alignment with best practices.Qualifications:

A minimum of ten (10) years of experience as a System Administrator in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering) from an accredited college or university is required. Alternatively, five (5) years of additional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.In-depth experience with troubleshooting IT systems and optimizing system operations.Proficiency in configuring and managing both UNIX and Windows operating systems, including network components.Familiarity with NSA requirements and security standards.Top Secret/SCI Clearance with Full Scope Polygraph is required
