We are seeking a skilled Applications Engineer II to provide top-tier technical support for CNC machines, both in-person and over the phone. This role involves conducting time studies, test cuts, and machine demonstrations tailored to customer specifications. You will play a vital role in optimizing manufacturing processes and enhancing customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities: Independently execute application engineering tasks while prioritizing based on company objectives. Design and fabricate fixtures and workholding for demos, test cuts, and turnkey solutions. Troubleshoot and define complex manufacturing and machining processes. Conduct time estimates for customer parts, maintaining a 10% tolerance. Utilize CAPPS conversational programming, CAM systems, and direct G-Code/Macro programming to generate CNC programs. Setup CNC machines, including 5-axis and mill-turn configurations, with the appropriate programs, tooling, workpieces, and fixtures. Inspect finished parts for quality and accuracy. Create engineering proposals and generate comprehensive technical documentation. Setup and program CMM (coordinate measuring machine) for precise measurements. Collaborate with ASM to actively consult customers on their technical needs and generate order intake. Provide training to customers post-installation to ensure smooth operations. Minimum Qualifications: Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or a related field preferred; additional machining knowledge is a plus. Experience:
Minimum of 5 years in CNC applications and manufacturing processes. Technical Skills:
Proficiency in part processing, CNC programming, and machine setup; basic understanding of metallurgy. Technical Proficiency:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with CAPPS programming and CAM systems is advantageous. Organizational Skills:
Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Work Ethic:
Willingness to work 40 hours a week with the availability for overtime as needed. Problem-Solving:
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities for troubleshooting and optimization. Work Environment: Exposure to manufacturing and machining environments, which may include noise, chemicals, and heavy equipment. General office environment within our client's facility. Physical Demands: Frequent travel, operating a vehicle, standing, walking, bending, and lifting objects. Ability to perform repetitive movements with hands, arms, and torso.
