is looking for a Business Development Manager to join our team. This is a
hybrid
role based out of our Houston, TX office.

Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Summary of Duties:
Position can work from home for two days a week.
The role is primarily responsible for the following job duties:Develop, establish, and execute new business opportunities around energy transition through investment, to cultivate and manage its business strategy.Carry out due diligence on the technology, business viability, and regulatory/policy framework to ensure secure investments in climate tech startups with a specific focus on North America.Assess various clean energy project development prospects in collaboration with strategic partners to gain insights into the industry landscape or engage in opportunities with promising investment returns.Collaborate with existing portfolio companies to proactively explore new avenues for joint projects, business expansions, or manufacturing partnerships, while also delving into potential policy support within the USA.Identify, Source, and lead investment and partnership opportunity with clean tech startups (or any external partners).Collaborate with them to conduct synergies and create long term strategic value at decarbonization solutions around MHI Group businesses.Work directly with the Senior Executives of MHIA to carry out the division's goals & objectives in harmony with MHI-Japan and MHI-America.Partner with MHI-Japan and MHI-America colleagues in establishing MHIA IBD department from the ground up, filling key positions along the way, to build a strong and lasting organization.Support the Managers of Research & Innovation group to understand emerging technologies and identify gaps in the Energy marketplace; then seek opportunities to exploit MHI technical capabilities to meet those unfilled needs.Establish and execute an effective, business strategy which successfully promotes MHI's entire portfolio of energy transition.Conduct research and detailed due diligence on potential investment opportunities for clean tech start-ups.Coordinate internal resources, start-ups and third parties for the flawless execution of projects to create synergies with start-ups which MHI group invests in.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS : Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Public Policy or foreign equivalent plus 5 years of relevant experience in the energy industry.
SPECIAL SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS :
Work experience must include:Evaluate innovative climate technology startup technologies, assess their emissions reduction potential, and formulate climate technology investment strategies aligned with energy transition policies.Experience conducting in-depth research and analysis of climate technology, human capital, related regulations, and markets.Analyzing market dynamics, including demand, supply, feasibility, and competitive landscape for clean energy technology while identifying obstacles to adoption.Utilize Excel data analysis, able to break down complex financial models for comprehensive analysis and reporting.Experience creating, fostering, and maintaining relationships with clients/investors within the energy industry.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENT:
Travel up to 20% required.
