The Duke Clinical & Translational Science Institute (CTSI) provides infrastructure, education, and resources to facilitate translational research at Duke University focusing on integrating resources and programmatic research areas across campus. CTSI is housed in the Duke School of Medicine (SOM) and has dual reporting to the Dean of the School of Medicine and the Chancellor for Health Affairs. It is the institutional home for the Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA), funded by the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
The CTSI brings together the stakeholders from all parts of the University and Health System and facilitates their work toward reaching the Chancellor's strategic goals in a given area. The CTSI is composed of a number of programs that focus on key strategic areas related to Duke Health. Programs with strong commonalities are housed within pillars. The programs and pillars form a network that collaborates toward the overall vision of the CTSI: Accelerating the translation of scientific discoveries into health benefits for patients and communities. One of the programs is the Community Engaged Research Initiative, part of the Equity and Learning Health Communities pillar. The goal of the Community Engaged Research Initiative is to facilitate equitable, authentic, and robust community-engaged research to improve health and health equity.
Occupational Summary
Under the direction of the Program Director of the Community Engaged Research Initiative (CERI), the Project Planner will apply project planning and management skills, tools and techniques to develop resources and tools to support the coordinated activities of CERI. Work will include managing cross-functional activities to promote awareness of community engaged research, support campus-community teams in planning/conducting research and translating research into action, build researcher and community capacity for engagement, create systems change to facilitate engaged research, and disseminate lessons learned from CERI work. Work also includes collaborating with other units and teams across the Duke CTSI and Duke University and Health System, across the CTSIs nationally, and in the community.

Develop and coordinate medium to large projects, programs, and research projects related to community-engaged researchWork on rural health equity initiatives including collaboration with organizations and health care systemsCollaborate to develop and implement community-driven AI health solutions to address pressing health challengesBuild and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, healthcare system leaders and other key partnersWork with the Program Director, CERI faculty leadership and team members to plan and implement activities aligned with program strategic goalsApply project management knowledge, technical and interpersonal skills, and project management tools and techniques to meet the requirements of initiatives and activities of CERIImplement standard project management processes, tools and methodologyManage systems and processes to evaluate and maintain metrics on CERI initiatives, activities and programsAssist in the conduct of ongoing needs assessments to determine the feasibility, acceptability and utility of programs, tools, resources and activitiesDevelop workflows, processes and policies for existing and new initiatives and support monitoring of the portfolio of programs and projectsIdentify and facilitate opportunities for collaborations with other CTSI programs and their leadershipCollaborate on the design and development of CERI initiativesCollaborate in the planning and organization of various activities and public relations events to promote the CERI missionParticipate in the implementation of promotional ideas and activities in support of a comprehensive awareness-raising program to promote the CERI missionStay abreast of trends in and literature on community engaged researchWork with study teams and other units at Duke, and external community partners to support and build capacity for community engaged research and research translationWork with the CERI Community Advisory Council (CAC) to strengthen CERI initiatives and develop meaningful opportunities for CAC members to contribute to CERI work and the health of their communitiesContribute to reports, presentations, publications, and other vehicles for disseminating results of and lessons learned from CERI activitiesExcellent verbal and written communication skills are essential to work closely with team members and leadership, and effectively manage problems as they occurPerform any other related duties incidental to the work described herein. Required Qualifications at this Level
Education/Training:
Bachelor's degree. Additional training in Project Management or related training is desired.

Minimum Qualifications
