Atrium Health
Associate Director , Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) Communi
Atrium Health, Winston Salem, North Carolina, United States, 27104
Overview
The CTSI Community Engagement Program aims to improve health research through patient and community engagement, to promote and facilitate community-relevant and -engaged research, to increase research participation from communities traditionally underrepresented in research, and to improve health equity. Services provided by CTSI Community Engagement include consultation to faculty, the provision of education and tools for patient and community engagement, and an affinity group of team members who conduct community-engaged research.
We aim to recruit a Community Organization Leader (e.g. nonprofits with or without 501c3 status, community practice/clinic, state/local health department) who is a PhD or MD/DO Health Services Researcher, Clinical Researcher, Community-Engaged Researcher, to serve as an Associate Director for our Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) Community Engagement team. Each Associate Director will serve as a liaison to enhance community-engaged research to improve health outcomes in research.
Each Associate Director will contribute to the development of new programming, the development of new evidence-based tools, ideas for new research, and contribute to scholarship through publication - all for the collective advancement of translational science and translation research, and to mitigate community health disparities and improve health equity.
Strong candidates will have expertise in clinical research, and/or community-engaged research, and experience developing curriculum or creating trainings for medical students, clinicians, faculty, and others on topics including research equity, patient engagement, diversifying participation in clinical trials and research, and community-engaged research methods and best practices. This is an opportunity to provide thought leadership to the strategic direction of the CTSI Community Engagement programming.
As CTSI Community Engagement efforts include collaboration with communities and support existing health efforts in the community, it is preferred that Associate Directors have existing relationships with leadership from community and regional organizations within the catchment areas of Wake Forest University School of Medicine and/or Atrium Health, within the Advocate Health system. Associate Directors will contribute to the integration of patient and community partner participation in CTSI programming. Associate Directors will also serve as subject matter experts for per diem consultation on topics that further the development of a community-centered research agenda within the academic medical center (and larger health system).
Associate Directors will provide thought leadership to identify and contribute to the prioritization of anchor research projects to address community health needs and health disparities in the catchment area. They are expected to leverage collaborations with investigators across the entire Advocate Health Enterprise, disciplines, and national networks, including the Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) network.
The Associate Director will report to the CTSI Community Engagement Director, who also serves as the Wake Forest University School of Medicine Senior Associate Dean for Community Engagement and Equity in Research. This role will work with three other Associate Directors and an Administrative Director. Together, this team of directors will form the leadership team for the CTSI Community Engagement team.
Applicants should submit (1) a letter with statement of interest, and (2) a complete curriculum vitae via the online application system. Application materials may also be emailed to T.K. at
