As a leader in cancer care, transdisciplinary research, and education, the Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Comprehensive Cancer Center (WFBCCC) in Winston-Salem, NC, and the Levine Cancer Institute in Charlotte, NC, are the two main sites of Atrium Health providing innovative, relevant cancer research, increasing access to high quality cancer care and clinical trials, trustworthy engagement and outreach, and meaningful pipeline programs that foster workforce diversity, equity and inclusion.

Together, they serve a catchment area that includes 30 counties across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia, and care for over 20,000 individuals with newly diagnosed cancer each year at over 20 regional locations.

Basic and Translational Neuro-Oncologists.

The NCI-designated WFBCCC at the Wake Forest School of Medicine (WFSM) and its Neuro-Oncology Program (NRO) are seeking established investigators to fill faculty tenure-track positions in the broad field of Neuro-Oncology. The NRO Program draws from the tradition and established infrastructure of the Brain Tumor Center of Excellence (BTCOE), an interdepartmental, highly collaborative initiative focused on translational/clinical neuro-oncology. Neuro-Oncology at WFSM has been a continuous member of the Adult Brain Tumor Consortium (ABTC), an NCI-supported early-phase CNS Consortium. WFBCCC is the only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center with an NCORP Research Base. The Gamma Knife Center at Wake boasts one of the most experienced treatment teams in the country and is one of the most active centers in the United States.

The WFBCCC has strong connections with the Wake CTSI, the Wake Forest Institute of Regenerative Medicine (WFIRM), the Wake Forest University Departments of Physics and Chemistry, the Virginia Tech-Wake Forest University School of Biomedical Engineering and Sciences (SBES), the Sticht Center on Aging, the Center forHuman Genomics, the Center for Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, and other research entities, which provides a dynamic environment for cutting-edge multidisciplinary research. The Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Comprehensive Cancer Center serves a catchment area that includesboth Winston-Salem, home to six colleges and universities and a vibrant arts community, and Charlotte, thelargest city in North Carolina.

Candidate requirements are:

• PhD, MD, MD/PhD, DVM or DVM/PhD degree

• Established independent research program

• Active funding (especially NCI)

• Interest in engagement in cross-disciplinary and/or translational collaborations

• Investigators in the specific areas of tumor immunology and immunotherapy, metabolism, therapeutic development, cancer stem-like cells, and animal models of cancer that pertain to primary brain tumors and brain metastases are especially encouraged to apply.
