Software (Visualization) Engineer
to design innovative visual analytics tools that empower Department of Defense (DoD) leaders to make strategic readiness decisions. This role combines data visualization, business analysis, and design thinking to develop intuitive dashboards for the
Readiness Decision Impact Model (RDIM)
and the
Readiness Analytics Visualization Environment (RAVEN) . You’ll create user-centered solutions that simplify complex readiness data for effective decision-making.Key Responsibilities:Data Visualization & Dashboard Design:
Develop intuitive visualizations and dashboards for the RAVEN web application to present readiness data clearly and interactively.User-Centered Design:
Apply
design thinking
to create user-friendly interfaces for non-technical users interacting with RDIM models.Data Integration:
Collaborate with analysts and engineers to
process and visualize data
from various DoD sources, ensuring seamless data integration.Prototyping & Iteration:
Lead efforts to prototype, test, and refine visualization tools, aligning them with user needs and business objectives.Requirements Gathering:
Engage with stakeholders to understand operational goals, ensuring visualization tools align with DoD strategic objectives.Advanced Visual Models & Reports:
Design reports and models that highlight readiness trade-offs and project future force capabilities, incorporating stakeholder feedback.Documentation & Training:
Create comprehensive technical and user documentation to help end-users navigate the software tools effectively.Compliance & Lifecycle Processes:
Ensure visual solutions align with
ISO/IEEE 29148-2018
standards and follow system lifecycle best practices.Team Collaboration:
Work independently or as part of a team to deliver high-quality solutions on time and within budget.Other Duties:
Perform other related tasks as assigned by management.Supervisory Responsibilities:This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.Qualifications:Education:Bachelor’s degree in
Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering , or a related field.
Experience:Minimum
3 years
of experience in data visualization, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
Technical Skills:Expertise with data visualization tools like
Power BI, Tableau , or similar platforms.Strong
UI/UX design skills
for creating user-friendly interfaces for complex data.Experience integrating
Python-based models
into interactive dashboards or visual environments.Familiarity with data mining, data analysis, and visualization frameworks, preferably in
defense or government
contexts.Proficiency in translating technical requirements into actionable design concepts.
Work Requirements:Clearance:
Active
Secret clearance
required;
Top Secret
clearance preferred.Work Arrangement:
Mainly
onsite
with some hybrid flexibility.Travel:
No travel required.
